Anyone try dipping door handles and side mirrors? I'm curious if keyless entry works on drivers side after Plasti dip

Plasti dipping door handles would be a moot point. After it dries, it can be rolled (peeled) off. After a while, it would rub off and it will be a chore to keep re doing them.

Good enough for tool handles so it would absolutely be fine for doors handles if applied properly. I'd be more worried about dust, dirt, and debris, making it look like shit and faded rather than it being "rolled" off from just opening your door.

Maybe so. I just wouldn’t trust it on door handles. Kinda like painting a steering wheel.

I personally wouldn't put it on my door handles either but I bet it would hold up ok. If I was not on a budget and it was really important for me to make them black, I'd just swap parts or have it wrapped. Otherwise plastidip works.

Why do you want basic sr looks?
I thought base sr models have black mirrors and handles. Why not swap with oe parts?

Why put some garbage chemical on your brand new paint. If you need blacked out get some SR handles.

Does it matter? You drive around in garbage chemical salts in NY. Plastidip is fine

I'm sure the OP's parts would come out looking great with the product you recommended above  I was advocating for doing it the right way with OEM pieces available through Toyota.

You could dip the handles but not the inside. That'll keep the smartkey stuff and less wear and tear, but it WILL start rubbing off over time.

great feedback....I was going to buy OE black handles and mirror caps but would set me back about $300....just investigating alternate options...mirror caps are $30 each and non-driver door handles are cheap, but the keyless entry handle is like $150. Thanks for the feedback, will probably just spray the emblems and wait on the other stuff.

It’s your truck op . Nothing wrong with plasti dip. It will old on the door handles for awhile. The nice thing about it . If you don’t like it peel it off. Have dipped many parts . The stuff holds up. Also check out dipyourcar.com there a shop that has pushed plasti dip to new levels.

Yeah, the biggest problem to using the cans is that they leave a bumpy texture. If that bothers you, check the dipyourcar link above and invest in a sprayer. You can also get those rechargeable sprayers that will also give you a finer spray. I think they sell those too.

I’d go the cheaper route and get them wrapped.

I'd rather be able to bed liner the dimples. They look like crap with white paint.

We had that kind of Plasti Dip at work that you could dip stuff in. It worked for a while.

The spray on I doubt would last long at all.

Ran black plasti dip on a 07 Jeep jk. Ran the shot out of it. Pressures washed it , car washed it. And it didn’t budge. And that was the full grill door hinges, door locks, inside tailgate.nice thing was could peel it off. Touch up was easy too. The only thing the dip don’t like is petroleum produsts. Will cause it come off quick.

How big a pain is it to remove and replace the door handles? Seems like it could be a pita.
