I'll play. Current spread of what I have open. Nothing to crazy. Everything gets snatched up quick in north tx and I didn't win any raffles...you guys have me convinced to pick up the 1920. Anyone tried the Belle Meades cask strength reserve? It got good reviews.

Nice collection, Belle Meade cast strength is good.

Going try Old Rippy this evening. Haven't tried it yet but have heard good things. Anyone tried it?

What do you think of that Willet pot stilled? I bought a bottle and really done like it, so it sits at the back of my cabinet getting dusty.

I got a bottle a week and a half ago - it lasted 5 days before it was gone. Granted I shared with some of the whiskey club and with my brother-in-law when he came over, but needless to say, I really enjoyed the stuff.

That is incredible to see it on a shelf with a standard retail price tag. GREAT score!

That is a very solid bourbon. One of my favorites. For anyone that likes Maker's, I send them to Larceny to see if they change their mind. Most do.

I'm curious - is that the order you tried them in? That Octomore is so peaty and so high proof that it can almost wreck anything that comes after it. It is so damn delicious, though.

I haven't had the Spirit of Mauve, but I had the good fortune to try last year's Boss Hog - The Black Prince - and had it immediately jump past Midwinter Night's Dram for the best rye I've ever had. So delicious.

That is one incredible line-up you had. If you told me you paid $45 for just a pour of the Boss Hog, I'd have believed you. To try all of those, though? Crazy good deal.

That was not the order I tried them in. I think it went Chivas, black arts, boss hog, Dave's blend, Octomore, Cardeas, Port Charlotte. The first and last were on the house so I didn't get to pick em, but hey I'm not going to turn down free whiskey!

Keep in mind they weren't full pours, tasters of each. Half an ounce (or full oz if you're friends with the bartender )

I will gladly trade you a bag of Kingsford briquettes for them then! :D :fingerscrossed:

For such a high apv the taste is great. Its surprisingly easy to drink, the best part is it's not like drinking aviation fuel usually found in high alcohol drinks like that. Try it you won't be disappointed.

The willet pot still is just ok. I’m not overly impressed by it. I feel like it’s confused especially when sipping neat. just a strange flavor profile and no heat. Doubt I’ll buy it again, but will try there family estate rye when I see a bottle.

Mostly what I got from it was pickle. Guess some would say dill, but it was mostly pickle with, as you said, other strange things going on. I can say with 100% certainty that I do not want to taste pickle in my whiskey.

I had one of those books, nearly full of tasting notes. I left it in my back pocket and the washing machine destroyed it :(.

    They are great books.

Girlfriend gave me a bottle of Maker's Mark Private Select. Don't know the staves in my bottle off the top of my head, but I was very impressed with it. A good bit of heat at 54%, delicious!

Have you opened Noah's Mill? I'm intrigued, not sure if I could find it in my area though (MA).

I'm in Western MA, but have to go out to Burlington in a week... Maybe I'll see if they have it at that Wegmans!

Side note, Wegmans is the best grocery store ever.

Noah's Mill is good stuff. We blind tasted it alongside Russell's Reserve Single Barrel and OGD 114. The Noah's Mill came out on top for the majority of us tasters. The higher proof is fairly hidden by a rich, caramel & nougat flavor.
