Is there any advantage to go ceramic brake pads over steel? I need new brake pads for my rear brakes cause they are squeaky as hell

 

Shoes for drum brakes. Not pads.

Quality modern pads are going to be ceramic or organic. You'll get better initial bite, less brake fade, more heat capacity, and less noise than steel.

 

Rear disc conversion

 

Gotta love holiday travel delays. A massive storm system moved through yesterday messing up flights and it's rolling over into today. Delayed 2 hours so far.

 

Pretty sure he's not running a rear disc conversion.

Is this an option? I’ve oftentimes wondered for when the time comes. Still can’t believe drum brakes are still being used in the 21st century. Surely there must be some advantage...otherwise why?

From my understanding the main reason why manufacturers are still using a drum rear tends to come down to cost and ease of assembly from the factory (keep in mind that the backing plate assembly would be loaded from the supplier). Could there be other reasons why engineers still design vehicles with a drum- rear braking system? Quite possibly... Besides, only 30% (+or - 5%) of braking is accounted for by the rear systems of road vehicles.
