An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
That's kind of like saying if you need a canopy then you should get an SUV. Mid size with a 6' bed is a lot easier to maneuver through city streets than a full size with a 5 1/2 bed.

You can't fit a motorcycle in the long bed either with the tailgate up unless you put it diagonally.

Nathan took the Tacoma because of the MT
Andre took the Ranger because he thought it was more comfy

I like these guys a lot, but I have a hard time watching their capability comparison videos because so much of it comes down to tires.....they only compare stock setups to keep it fair, but most of us don't run stock tires

You are the man, thanks for the summary. Personally I don't care about comfy, MPG, power or bells and whistles I only focus on reliability and great(er) off-road capability.Hopefully that is what they mentioned as well for the Tacoma... I will watch it later!

    If I could thumbs-down your click-bait title, I would.

It looked like the Tacoma had an easier time with the Crawl Control on the hard part of the trail than the Ranger, but the Ranger had an easier time on the snowy/icy flatter part, with less tire slippage. They seem to have performed about the same, in general. Neither was "challenged" by the test.

that's the difficulty with those comparisons, it comes down to tires

Ford made the ranger match the Tacoma. Safe, but disappointing move. I hope they step up their game for the new Bronco but I'm not holding my breath

yea, in an ideal world they would test with the same tires. but its obvious why they don't do that.

they mentioned a couple weeks ago that they were going to try to have a tire comparison in 2019 all on the same truck(s), so we'll see if they can pull it off

I thought the Ranger did slightly better minus the articulation comparison.

I feel the Ranger is the complete package with off-road ability, comfort, technology and MPG's.

I can't wait until they do the trailer tow test up I70. The Tacoma will get waxed.

I cant waiting until they both get to 200K, that Ranger will get "Waxed"
I had that 2.3L Turbo in my last 2 cars... not a great motor even when maintained properly
The "Forged" connection rods are made of compacted sawdust and bearings made of cheese
Twin Scroll K04S Turbo by Borgwarner spools so low and fast it smashes/rolls bearings left and right

Was in the Mazdaspeed (single scroll) and the Focus Focus RS I had both, puts out good numbers but not for long

Yes, new Monkey and CRF100, camping bikes. It's nice to be able to lock them in place on trips.

The ranger has better break over and departure degrees. I feel the ranger has better comfort due to the less ground clearance (so they have more head room) where the tacoma focused more on that. In terms of going off road up the gold mine hill looked like to me the tacoma won in ever aspect. I'm still interested in real world mpg on the ranger and the longevity of that motor.
