BSM error dealer trying to charge me

Not true.
Have lifter my taco over 3" in the back and no BSM problems. Actually it works better now, get alerts sooner.

 

Not at all covered, was is clean.. just normal mud from rural living.. not straight out of a pasture or a swamp. Plus they have a cleaning booth at dealership.

 

Here is the scuff in question.

 

Take a picture of BSM sensor that is not working.
That scuff is not near the BSM. Is the other BSM working? Get under the truck and check all connections of the BSM, unplug and plug back, clean if needed.

That’s the sensor in question they say was knocked out of alignment by scuff.

Here’s “excessive” mud they said.

 

The round spots are NOT BSM they are parking sonar. Has 0 effect on BSM.

The BSM module is a rectangular piece under the rear fender with a flat surface pointed at a bit of an angle toward the corner of the bumper.

 

Take a more distant picture to show side and bumper.
Looks good to me. Knocked off the alignment is BS (horse shit). Took mine off and put them back. No problems.
Go under the truck and play with it.

 

Interesting.. they pointed the circle to me at dealer and said that was it. Don’t see it underneath?

 

These are a BSM sensors

 

The round things are PARKING sensors. Not BSM, I do not think they have anything to do with BSM or cross traffic.

Why then I have 2 of those on each rear bumper?

 

If you lay under your truck and look up at the tail light, you will see the BSM sensor. it is the silver box with the black back mounted to the truck

Some taco models have only one of the eye per side and some have two eye. What for?

 

If it was me, I'd just hose the crap out of my truck and take it to a different dealer. It really looks like they are just blowing you off.

I'm also really glad my truck doesn't have this stuff.

 

I think you are mistaken. All the rear bumpers with sensors I have seen have 4. 4 for straight back and 2 for the corners.

My truck is silver, so like the white trucks my inner most sensors that are on the inner black bumper cover can seem to disappear in certain light.

 

OP, post a picture like mine.
What is #1 for and what is #2 for? I thought #1 is the BSM. On my first taco - 17 OR - I only had #2 sensor, no #1.
OP do you have this icon mark on your mirrors (pic 2)?
