Not going to happen without some trimming/chopping/heating up plastic of some kind. Search box in upper right corner is your best friend on here.

    Welcome!

255/80/17 or 255/85/16 on stock wheels will "fit" with no lift. Every truck is different and wheel offset will greatly impact rubbing. I'm using a stage 4 Icon that's around 2/1.5 with 285/70/17 with -10 offset. I had minor trimming.

You can find many others real world experiences by searching. There are TONS of treads with detailed fitment configurations. You can narrow them down to third gen to refine the results. Here is a quick search and good luck!

Thanks for the replies and the welcomes, just trying to get overland ready. Lift with offset rims wouldn’t save the fenders at all?

Yes 9th, planning a trip to the arctic circle spring 2020 and just retired the 95 Pickup so want to build my rig over the next year for the big drive. Currently in North Carolina and hoping to travel mostly off pavement.

There is no real answer. You'll get tons of different replies. For tires that are TRULY 33.0" to never rub (even under full suspension compression/turning) I don't see a way to fit that without somewhat trimming or molding the fender. You would need 3+" of lift which is not really worth it on these. More harm than good doing that just to avoid cutting a couple small piece of plastic.

    What's the fear about?

Mostly just trying for clearance and to make the least amount of major changes i’m Good with Cutting plastic not so game on CMC or other metal cutting/relocating.

You can absolutely get away without CMC in my opinion. Trick to that is finding some upper control arms that will you give the most positive caster possible. A good alignment shop is the other half of the key. Even if in a rare event you end up rubbing on the cab mount, you're not going to have any damage from doing so or anything like that. A little rub every once in a moon won't do any harm.

You are not going to fit a 285 under there without cutting. Even lifted you still have to clear when suspension compresses.

That sounds like an awesome trip...I was in Patagonia (2001) (Chile) and met a young man who was driving all the way to Ushuaia from Bend OR. He had one of those Quigley 4x4 vans. Sweet rig it was.

Every truck is different. Running 285s here with no CMC and no rubbing rock crawling with fully stuffed tires. I’ve only had to trim the inner fender. It’s close... but no contact

Yes, like I said in the first post, minor trimming. But no cab mount chop.

My 33.3”s fit well with my OME 2.5” lift ... no cutting, spacers or UCAs ... just get 255s and take off the stock mudflaps.

People saying "use the search function, you cant fit 33s without rubbing" need to...idk...stfu and use the search function.

Your answer is 255s. Especially for overlanding because they dont hit your fuel economy as hard. They also look old skool cool.

There's a link to my 255s thread with thousands of posts of success stories with different tires in my sig.

Do your research, the more you lift to get bigger tires, the more opportunities you get to do something else. If I was building a rig for that kind of trip, reliability would be number one, then fuel economy. Some of the best Overland builds I’ve seen on here don’t run that big of tires, tall and skinny. Just my opinion.
