    Or they don't really have a clue about what being married is and what real commitment is. Having good role models helps. Plus faith in God. Realizing that you have two sinners getting married and keeping that in mind for when there are disagreements. I married my best friend who skis with me, mountain bikes, SUP, kayak, etc. She is NOT my servant nor did I ever expect her to be. We both clean, cook, do yardwork, and raise our son as a TEAM. We work together to get through the tough times and support each other, and have a blast doing fun stuff together.

    Not everyone will agree with this, but that's my summary.

    It's not the institution of marriage, it's the people. Many get married for the wrong reasons..or just grow up and apart, just happens.

    Much as she drives me nuts some days, my wife is very independent..a far cry from my previous relationship. Plus I get a lot of freedom to have my own time as does she.

    18 years here ... she was with me for my last 14 years of service and through 3 deployments (2- 12 month, 1- 15 month). Wasn’t always easy and we def had our issues BUT you’re a team. Support each other and don’t wait to talk about things you need from each other emotionally and physically. Strange how people force it or think a kid will make it easier. If you need something besides each other or to force it... it won’t work.
