That tailgate skin is definitely the way it should have come from the factory. I thought long over how to resolve the interference with my camper shell and will be doing the panel eventually with a stock top cap.

 

I’ll look tonight if it looks like the plastic would fit over. I’m sure with a dremel the plastic would be easy to mod. Or go with the Mobtown one with a plastic top?

 

FYI. I mean using a tail gate skin that does not wrap around the top. Just the flat part without the the extra two bends that would be more than aftermarket could do early.

Just a single flat tail gate panel without the top part. Does that make sense?

 

Spent the day sort of dinking around with the truck.

I “installed” a Bluetooth OBDII reader. It was super easy with an extension cable and then was able to put some adhesive-backed Velcro on the reader and stick it up in the drivers side footwell. Time will tell how bomber this setup is. I used some Velcro ties for cord management.

Torque Pro is freaking awesome! Super excited to play around with it more!

I also installed the BirdDawg industries Tech Deck Off-road version. Pretty easy overall. Probably even easier if you let the epoxy set and don’t have to redo everything a second time!

Got a RAM ball and X-grip mounted for my Phone so I’m super excited with how it all turned out!

I’m still waiting for my Hondo Garage Big Squeeze Mount for the tablet but so far I’m happy!

I also have a Bad Elf GPS Pro that’s paired with this tablet (Samsung Tab A 7”). Im running Gaia GPS on it. I’m a nerd and when it comes to maps I’m a super nerd so this has been awesome to play with! I can’t wait to explore with it off-road. It also seems killer for finding free camping which is something I’m always looking for!

Here’s a crappy picture of the setup, the Bad Elf lives in the drivers side “left knee” cubby. I’ll probably bump the phone over to the right side of the tech deck tomorrow AM.

 

Pulled my tailgate reinforcement so I could paint it and install the Mobtown all-metal hardware kit.

I finished priming it when Denver decided to get real windy real quick. So this is how I’m driving around until hopefully tomorrow when I can find some still air to lay down some paint!

How are the wheels holding up. Any more pics? I wanna do my tundra wheels in this color dip. Did you do matte or gloss? Thanks

 

Holding up better than I expected, when it starts looking gnarly I’ll probably buy new rims but I think that’s still awhile yet. I chose the Matte and I’m happy I did, it’s a nice color.

I’ll try to snag some more picture for you.

I did the Diff Breather Mod today, it was cold, the street was wet, and the bottom of my truck was muddy and gross but happy that it's done!

As an aside, looking at throwing on some ditch light, are the Baja Designs S2 Pro worth the extra price over the S2 Sport?

 

Opinions needed!

I'm looking to throw a lift on this Tax Return season.

The options I've narrowed it down to are either getting the Midtravel King setup from Downsouth Motor Sports, who say that they rebuild and re-valve shocks to their spec (whatever that means). Or I can get the Stage 2 Fox's from Accutune.

Pros of Down South Kings: Kings are sweet, you get to say "Kings, Brah", and I like the color better. I'd also be going with a Dakar Leaf pack in the rear

Pros of Accutune Fox's: A little bit cheaper. From what I understand, Accutune kicks ass at tuning shocks. But I'd only be doing an AAL in the rear.

Between these two options what would you do? Is there anything else I should be thinking of?

Also real-talk whatever hoop the previous owner had Toyota spray on my frame for the rust recall is fucking filthy. Anything I want to do under there is going to be such a pain in ben ass because of it. Not psyched.
