Just asking. I would hold off until the Ranger
has some reviews to see if it has any bugs in it since it is a new model. Could be fine,
just saying if you or others are interested.
Could be a fine truck, I’m not going to pre judge.
I am happy with my Limited, with zero complaints.

Stock OR tires on the Taco suck. As far as tires go, there was no advantage.

Another thing, I keep hearing these reviewers yap about the great fuel economy of the various Ecoboosts. They are fuel efficient IF you keep your foot off the throttle. If you want/need those nice HP/TQ numbers, fuel economy drops quickly. I'm not convinced of consistent long term durability with the Ecobust. Sure a few have gotten a lot of miles from them, but a lot have not without major repairs.

I’ve owned a Ranger and a Tacoma. Although I never had any problems with my Ranger, it doesn’t hold a candle to my Taco.

I like Doug....however people have different opinions.

I'm a Jeep and Porsche guy.....he kind of waffles in some of his reviews based upon time/thoughts at the time.

Entertaining review but will not make a decision based on his opinion.....will have to wait for some REAL WORLD users on the Ranger when it gets here.

Trust me, I actually LOVE the Tacoma......tons of stuff to love that is why I am in this dilemma

If I had watched videos (dating myself) when I got our two "P" cars, I never would have purchased!

Still happy with all of our vehicles.

Someone told me way back that purchasing a '93 YJ was a "bad investment"....OMG.....take all the vids/reports with a grain of salt.

Bottom line....right now, after our test drives...the Tacoma is still a front runner but will hold out on new purchase until I can test drive the 2019 Ranger. Just seems to make sense to do so!

You must have missed the part where it has 310 torque at 3k rpm.

Auto mags and owners of the 2.3 ecoturd are reporting that the engines derates in seemingly optimum conditions for a turbo.....

In other words, that 310 torque figure isn’t always a constant.

Looks are not everything and it is in the "eye of the beholder"

I love the Cement Taco....it really is a "sharp look" for me...however many people HATE the color.

It isn't about colors/trims....it is about how it deals with trail things. There isn't anyone that can compare the Ranger to that ...."yet".....so I will simply hold off on it 'til there is a real world comparison.

BTW.....I do like the interior on the Ranger vs the Taco......just personal opinion and again, until I sit in a Ranger we will see.

That's where we are different. I don't give a hoot about interiors. Don't really care about color that much either. What I care about is long term reliability. What I care about is does the vehicle meet my needs. I keep vehicles forever. Currently own a 90 Buick, 99 Olds and a 08 GMC. All bought new. The Olds is at the end of it's natural life span. The Buick is doing OK. Less miles than the Olds. The lemon ( GMC) needs to go. It's does not meet the reliability need. Something tells me a 2.7 Toyota will run longer than any Ecoboost. I know a guy with an Ecoboost F150 with a silly amount of miles on it. He drives more in a month than some do in a year. On the other hand a close friend of mine who is a mechanic tells me to never buy a Ecoboost due to reliability issues after 100,000 miles or so.

According to these guys comparing the taco and ranger they had very similar fuel economy after a day testing, so I think you're right.

Also interesting take on the crawl control of the two. At first they said their main complaint about the Tacoma crawl control was the noise , but after comparing the two on the course they had they said the Tacomas "felt safer" and though noisy they take back their criticism.

To be fair, this is usually the way it is for any turbocharged gasoline engine. Not just a Ford thing.

It will be interesting to see how Ford does with this re hash of the Ranger. Let’s see how many loyal Tacoma owners will jump ship.
If Ford was serious, they would unleash
the baby Raptor for me to to even look
    at the new Ranger.
At 46k for a loaded Lariat, I don’t think so.

I doubt I'll have bought a new truck by the time the Rangers hit the lots around here. I'll test drive one when they show up. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised?? The Ecobust still worries me though. My gut is screaming at me to get the Tacoma.

In the second video the gentleman even remarks on reliability between the two. Something to the effect of the Ford is good for those who trade often.
