I often downshifted to pass and to maintain speed in wind. Lots of high rpm miles.

I really have no idea why it lost the compression. Just speculating. I just figured that little 4cyl wasn't meant to be run like I ran it.

 

Same here- I didn't do a single thing to the truck in 158k miles other than oil changes and plug changes. Pretty amazing, really.

My FIL's 2010 regular cab (2tr-fe) has almost 200k on the clock. He's probably changed the oil on it like 5-7 times, probably never changed his diff juice, neglected all other basic maintenance routines, but the truck still runs like new. He swears he'll get another 200k out of it. I'm curious to see how many he'll squeeze out of it.

 

Just passed 402,000 highway miles. Maintenance is the key, it will last.

Parts replaced due to failure:
Frame(recall)
Water pump, on the third one
Fuel pump
MAF sensor
Passenger rear wheel bearing
Drivers side front wheel bearing

 

My truck has 70k on it right now. One day when I'm driving my brand new BMW 7 Series I expect this badass little truck to be sitting in my driveway at 400k miles with my future kids driving it to high school everyday.

Toyota's are good man. I'm a huge Honda fan, but Toyota has the same reliability as Honda. My uncle bought a 2003 Toyota Tundra brand new off the showroom floor. That thing has 350k right now running like a champ and I don't think that man has done anything except changed the oil with regular conventional. Literally no other maintenance hahaha. They will last forever.

 

Well lets see I have 225xxx miles on my 2005. Just had my transmission replaced less than 5000 miles ago, My master cylinder went out last Friday leaving me stranded with out brakes 4 hours away from the house. My parents 2006 had a rear end go out around 180K. So I guess they will last forever if you want to fix shit.

 

What I'm a bit worried about is my frame...

It was rustproofed in late 2017 but not replaced.

 

Had a 2000 Honda Civic, motor blew at 250k, put one in with 60k already on it and gave it to my niece when she started driving at 265k - it will run a long time if she takes care of it, but I’ll bet you my taco motor doesn’t go at 250k...



Edit: only reason the motor blew at 250k - it was my sisters car before I got it to make my
Tacoma not a daily driver, and she did not take care of it - still went 250k.

 

Your coworkers must be smoking some of that good shit to think a toyota will crap out at 150k

 

Those coil packs will be on barrowed time running plugs that long.

 

Meh. My ex wife had a 97 civic and we were replacing the burned/rusted out soda-can thin exhaust and heat shields every other year. The engine had a horrible tick when cold and the suspension was shot at 100k. So don’t think one is going to go 300k without some investment — just like any other vehicle. A Tacoma, properly looked after, is going to go just as far or farther than any Honda.

 

The Tacoma will last longer than any BMW with only 1/10th the issues.

Well, they were drug-free when they got hired because everyone has to pass a drug test. Perhaps they've gone back to smoking the good shit now that they've gotten hired...

 

That adds up to almost 130K miles!

 

Is that impressive? Lol

I'm Canadian after 300km is a good reliable vehicle

 

For the record, the most miles we (my parents and me) have ever put on our vehicles...

FIRST PLACE: 2004 Honda Odyssey EX (purchased new in May 2004 and owned until May 2013; Over 130K at the time it was sold)

SECOND PLACE: 1996 Nissan Pathfinder SE (purchased new in May 1996 and traded for my Tacoma in September 2009; About 113K at the time of trade-in)

THIRD PLACE: 2013 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD (purchased new in May 2013 and traded for a 2018 GMC Yukon in December 2018; Almost 99K at the time of trade-in)

FOURTH PLACE: My 2010 Tacoma (purchased new in September 2009; Over 91K as of this posting)

 

What's more impressive is that kilometers make it seem higher than it actually is. My friend who lives in Hong Kong has a 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche, UK-spec. For some reason, UK-spec vehicles have the speedometer primarily in kilometers, but the odometer in miles.
