If it does, it's under warranty and that's there fault for a bad application.

I don't know about the spray, someone else can chime in on that. I'd clean it, let it dry, and apply liberal fluid film or similar product at a warm temperature. Repeat the process before and after your winter, you should be as good as you can get.

Well I'm about to find out what these 2nd gens are made of because I've already put over 88k on my 2015. We'll see..

My dads 97 had 225k when the speedo/odo stopped working. That was around 06-07.

My dad bought my 2010 RC 5-lug auto new in September 2009 with 20 miles on the odometer. I took my driver's license test in my Tacoma, and drove it all the way through college. I've driven it to car shows all over Southeast Pennsylvania, and even entered it in a few of them. In December 2016, my dad signed the title over to me, officially making it my truck.

My Tacoma has only 91,239 miles on it as of this posting, it's been paid off for almost six years, it has a couple grand in upgrades (wheels, stereo system, WeatherTech accessories, etc), and it's got that famous Toyota reliability.

Me and my dad just put over three grand into routine maintenance and new parts this year (brakes, fluids, air-conditioner, etc).

I've even given my truck a name (Emma).

I would also like to point out that it's not exactly easy to find a decent regular cab Taco since they don't make that anymore, and I've been lucky enough to have one since it was new.

My goal is to drive my Tacoma as a daily driver for as long as possible, then get a new vehicle and keep the Tacoma as a second vehicle. I hope to get another Tacoma or a Tundra, and I've also been looking at the Subaru Crosstrek.

I feel the same way. Bought my 06 dcsb eight years ago. Paid off years ago with thousands poured into it. Regular maintenance and she still runs like the day i drove her off the lot(certified used) Currently at 184k. Gonna be looking soon into a new daily driver. I'll never get rid of it and hanging out on this site daily really sucks for the wallet.

If young people would buy Tacomas instead of heroin, there wouldn't be an opioid crisis! I've spent obscene amounts of money on my truck, but I can proudly say that aside from that one time I smoked weed a few years ago, I've NEVER done drugs!

My truck is my baby. I’ve had a lot of adventures with my truck. Will have many many more.

A vehicle is a tool. It isn’t a GF, wife or anything else.

I look back and reminisce over vehicles I have owned. Some I wish I still had but then I look at my reasons for getting rid of it and reality comes back into focus. At times I wished I kept something as a secondary vehicle. The current reality is I have the truck, my Z3 roadster, my Honda RC51 streetbike and my RC51 racebike. Last year the only miles on the Z3 were moving it around the driveway and I put maybe 300km on the streebike. Those secondary vehicles are costing me more money than they are worth just in insurance. I have probably a grand in seals and other minor maintenance items to do on the Z3. These things age no matter how many miles I put on it. If I don’t do them it will rot and then I can’t even sell it to get my money back out of it.

Now my primary reason for not selling anything at the moment is based on lifestyle. My daughter is 4. The Z3 or the motorcycle aren’t really conductive to family outings. As my daughter heads off to a friends for a sleepover or a night at the babysitters we hopefully will be able to take more date nights in the convertible. If in 2 years we still aren’t using the car it will be sold. I can always buy another if I need to or get another toy.

Secondary vehicles suck your hard earned cash. You can make the math look promising but in the end very few have the resources to store a vehicle properly and keep it running in perfect condition. Eventually you lose interest and as the vehicle rots you get get more discouraged.

If the truck has lost its lustre sell it and move on. You can always look back to the good times. But your reasons for selling it won’t change with time. Like an ex GF there is a reason they are ex’s.

Everybody says my truck is ugly, but I love it. I've essentially become as protective as a mother bear looking over her bear cub. Our neighbors think I'm crazy because I wash it twice a week. I'll try to keep her in my possession as long as possible cause I just started my driving career (I'm 17). At 52,970 miles, I think she can definitely withstand another 150,000 miles easy.

I'll eventually move on to another Tacoma once I get a proper salary, but until then, my 08 is my baby.

Charlie you are young. One day you might see things different. Things are just things. Same goes for young love. They come and go. I look at the last vehicle I wanted to keep as a secondary or Sunday car. It was a tough decision to sell it then. Now I don’t think about it and in reality if I didn’t sell it then I would be selling it now. It served its purpose. Once your ownership list increases into double digits you realize they were all just things.

My days alternate between work and spending time with my family. I am not doing laps of town on my motorcycle like I once did. I am not hitting the bar 3 times a week (maybe 2-3 times a year except for 1/2 price wing night if I even drink then). My time with the boys tends to be at the racetrack when I have to time to go racing. I just converted my enclosed trailer to house the family and the gear. My truck is really just a way to get to work, go shopping (Home Depot or whatever) and pull my trailers. I really like the Tacoma but one day it may be sold like the rest or become a trailer queen dedicated wheeler. I will make the decision when I am ready for something new and who knows if they offer me stupid money on trade I may find my love for it is less than cash. If used Tacoma prices are like everyone says I can’t see this truck staying with me forever. 25 months in and I just hit 32,000km (19,884mi). Looks like decent resale considering I do 8000km (5000mi) oil change intervals.

Your tacoma could be a total loss tomorrow, there are 1000 ways it can happen.

Don't get attached to cars, they will just rust away on you.

At least the truck won’t decide it doesn’t love me anymore and take half my stuff...

I just turned 199,000 on my 2015 yesterday (company vehicle). I will be extremely disappointed if I don’t get at least another 150,000 out of this truck. I’m not in a hurry to move ‘up’ to a 3rd gen....
