Pictures are better because lots of sites list them as SR5 even if its a Sport or Off road, so listing a SR5 as SR is probably done also.
You can go to toyotaowners.com and put the VIN and see what it says. That way should show when it was made and date of first use.
Post up the VIN and I will see if I can do it for you.

If it has an off-road listed as an sr5 I’d low ball the shit out of them

I'm sure you could because its mostly the Honda dealers and Chevy dealers I see do this. I have seen one listed as SR5 and their featured photo was a side shot of the bed which clearly showed TRD Off Road.

    What dealer?

If you can find a link to the ad, we can figure out exactly what model it really is, or at least what's been done to it.

    EDIT

    This the truck?

    If so, it's an SR5.

The "o" prior to the last digits should be a "0". If you search that VIN you get the truck I linked above, which is an SR5.

OP - the MSRP on a 4 cylinder SR5 was around $31K. OTD for me was $28,300 with a clunker $1,000 trade.

If I read your post correctly $21k is very reasonable for a 2016 SR5. In fact, I don't think you can find a better deal. Make sure it has 4x4, that can make a difference. Also SR5's should have color keyed fender flare trim and the middle of the road tech features (better than the base features but not as fancy as the higher end package).
