Gotta be 255 85 R16’s on SCS Rims... ideal size on a Tacoma. IMHO of course.

No doubt, and thank you! This setup is definitely how every last one of our trucks should have arrived from the factory -- along with a better engine+trans tune to accommodate them, of course.

The irony with this setup is that adding a lift will actually result in less optimal clearance and subsequently require trimming. Go figure...lol

Really? Better tire clearance with no lift as opposed to lifted?? Interesting.

I see that they are factory now. They look aftermarket at first glance.. I’m surprised that the 295s fit under the wheel wells. I have a 2nd gen now with 285’s on 0 offsets and i have a little poke outa the wells

Yessir, I believe it's the offset on the wheels that keeps them from poking much. The FJ wheels I have them on are +15mm I believe (might be -15mm, I forget). about 4.85" backspacing though. The 295s rub on everything. Ran some spacers on the fronts to get them off the UCAs, but then I had steering wheel shakes. Took em off and have been letting it self clearance since. They rub on the uppers, the lowers, and the frame rail at full lock. Rub the flares at full stuff.

Yea i would guess it would be +15 if it’s rubbing upper and lower CAs.. spacers gave you wheel vibes huh? Were they hub centric?

The diff clearance is great. I’m only running about 1.5” lift in the front, and 2” in the rear, so there was a lot of chopping and smashing to fit them

Yeah I think it is +15. It was 15 less than stock wheels, I think those were +30. Yep, bad steering wheel shakes. The member on here that sold me them said they were BORA and hubcentric, but I don't think they were. Got conned, threw them in the trash, haven't looked back. My hate for spacers was real before that happened to me. I really cant stand them now lol. I also almost stripped a nut off when trying to get them off the truck.

The 35s have now rolled into the thread!!! why only 1.5” in the front?? For more droop? Wouldn’t you want 2-2.5? For 35s? (I’m still learning all of this)

    Thanks

With stock geometry and bumps, I have exactly the same travel as anyone running 0-3” lift (except the fox/king/etc extended travel coil overs, those have a little more droop), but like you said, I have less uptravel and more droop. I like to keep my truck low for cernter of gravity, and stability. Keeps me from getting too tippy, plus I drive a lot of canyon roads and don’t have a sway bar haha

Damn tell me more!! Talk “dirty” to me!! What suspension did you go with? I’m very interested on how you fit those with minimal lift!! Front bumper removal a must? How much ‘smashing’ & cutting?

I’m dumb so I went with the buy twice cry twice method. I’m running OME nitrochargers at the moment, and will eventually upgrade. SPC control arms help a lot, they allow you to push the wheels further forward, away from the fire wall. Then it requires a sever cmc, beat the pinch weld over, and then beat the firewall back an inch or two. I removed my fender liners, and beat the top of the wheel well up where I saw it was rubbing. Fenders are trimmed about 2.5 inches, and flares are trimmed about an inch. Definitely possible to do this with a stock front bumper, you just have to continue your trimming forward.

    Edit:
In the rear I just removed the liners, and the bolts on the bottom of the flares. Not 100% sure that my rubbing is gone back there but it’s not damaging my tires or the bedsides

Also, with the 4.3” BS wheels, there was an inch less trimming on fenders, and the cmc wasn’t as sever, and the firewall did not need to be beaten back as far. I’d say that’s the best backspacing for 35s and minimal lift
