Mark, put that payment in the bank, then you will have access to cash. The Tacoma does not need extended warranty, dealers make a bundle on those, but again to each his own. Looking forward to the picture of the truck

Probably a math problem. If the warranty is $1500, than you're paying $3600 for services. If you take it in every 5,000 miles (minus the first 25,000 which are free) you need to figure out the cost. New tires X3 in 150K miles will equal about $2500 or so. Another 25 services every 5,000 miles at least $100 a pop is another $2500.
So now you've paid $3600 for $5000 in just general maintenance. Not counting brakes, batteries, spark plugs, air filters etc. Sounds like a good deal. Just make sure there is no "fine print" scam of things not covered.

I'm sure the dealership banks on you not keeping the truck that long.

    Call there bluff.

Edit to add, as I read what is listed, I don't think it's going to cover new tires (just road hazard), and probably not brakes, etc. I think you're just going to end-up with free oil changes and fluids for $3600. May not b worth it for the service part.

But they are reducing the truck a lot. So see if they'll scrub this whole warranty/service and still give you the same deal. I doubt it.

If not, you have to factor in that most are only getting $3-$4K off of Sticker. So putting back in the War/Serv. plan, gets you to where everyone else is.

Dang it man.. Ok. So I’ve ordered a 19’ TRD OR DCSB in cement & build date it Jan 5.. I’ve only left a small deposit to ensure delivery. I wanted tech package and bed lights only (here in The SE) there are quite a few ‘port installed’ add ons that jack up the price. Now that I’ve read the fine print on Toyotathons deal.. 1F28D681-F8C3-4EB2-AB5F-A9C38395B040.jpgI’m concerned that i won’t get the ‘special’ finance rates or rebate on delivery.. the sales manager assured me that they will honor it. But he’s not in finance and I’m not sure how he can make such a guarantee unless he can play with the price more to make the payments the same (another can of worms all to its self).

    Thoughts??

Thanks for the input guys. No it doesn't cover tires, battery, wipers, brake pads. Road hazard on the tires, if they go, even aftermarket mud tires, they are covered for replacement.

You will get what's available (rebates/incentives) at the time of delivery. At least that't what my dealer told me when I was ordering my 19 OR, and he is as honest as they come. You will probably miss out on the holiday credit since your truck will be here not earlier than Jan 10th or so.

My thoughts exactly.. I would like 1.9% for 48mo. But I’m sure that will change come January.. i left with paperwork quotes with 1.9% for 48mo.. if that changes.. I’ll pull the plug.. I’d rather do the deal now and lock in that rate. But no one has that truck (locally that is).

What him and others say. That's crazy expensive for covering a Toyota. My dealer offered a 100K mile comprehensive (no free oil changes or other free maintenance services) for $1500. I passed.

I can't count how many Toyotas I've owned since 1971. (something like 13 or 14, there's 4 drivers in the family)
If I've ever had a repair issue it's happened after 8 years and also after 100K or 125K miles.

I also bought a new Honda this year. The salesman gave me a heads up about the F&I guy going to offer me extras. He said whether to buy an extended warranty was my decision, his opinion was- "it's a Honda, you're not going to need it." Same can certainly be said for Toyota.

You took my post and pretty much rephrased exactly what I said. lol My question was buy now or wait a few months till Rangers hit the lots. Maybe I didn't phrase it well but I didn't answer my own question. Tacos on the lot now has nothing to do with what the situation will be in a few months when the Rangers hit the lots in a month or two....as you pointed out (and I did too), they may be more flexible. lol

I think there is thead comparing platinum prices and they ranged from $800-$1500. Call around, you can buy it from any dealership.

OK, maybe we weren't all that clear with each other.

Not many 18s or 19s on the lots (I too, found that to be true when I was looking to buy) means they are selling well, so no incentive right now for any crazy deals. dealers want to only give 7% off MSRP. If you can get them to 10%, it's a fair deal, IMO. (off MSRP, not the 'sticker price' after some bullshit inflated priced add-ons)

I think it'll take a while for Ranger sales to ramp up to both make a dent in Tacoma sales, and for Toyota to notice and take some action like 0% interest and $1K rebates. It remains to be seen if Rangers will mostly be loaded up, luxury posers, or serious off roaders, or even lesser pimped to compete with the SR and SR5?

So, after saying all that, I think there's no easy answer to your buy now or wait question. One thing is certain- if you wait another few weeks, the 18s will all be gone. I don't think in a few months time there will be any better deals on the 19s than you can negotiate now on an 18. if you can find one now how you want it optioned, I say buy it now.

I live in a high demand area (AZ) and got a little over 10% off on my 19, $41527 MSRP, paid $37219 which included dealer installed window tint and edge guards or door sill protectors whatever you call them. That and I got $32k for my trade which kbb was showing $29-30k, 2.9% with TFS, $540 in fees, I'm happy.

What percent off from MSRP should I expect? I've settled in on a OR TRD DC 4x4 with manual transmission. I want as few options as possible and have found two trucks in the color I wanted:

    2018 MSRP $37,556 less $4,575 (12.2%) so $32,980

    2019 MSRP $38,132 less $4,100 (10.8%) so $34,032

I'm dealing with southeast toyota dealerships. I'm not trading and fees and such are the same between dealers.

I’d go with the 19’ better resale down the road. You’ll have a vehicle that’s a year newer.. and it’s a good deal on the 19!! What’s the dealer fee? 900$ If so it’s about the same deal i have in the works..

Personally I'd go 2018 if it's the same truck to save $$. Also considered the 2018's usually have a better promotion during Toyotathon than 2019's. I know where I bought it was 1.9% vs. 2.9% financing for 60 mo. & $1000 off vs. $500 off. But every region is different.

Go test drive both and see which one you prefer.

Are these prices negotiated in person, or over the phone or email? I ask because they can quote you whatever over emails and texts and when you show up at the dealer, they suddenly only have trucks with dealer installed extras for a much higher sticker price.

Try and squeeze em for another $300- $500 off the '18 and buy that.
