After getting married and having a family I dont place much importance on material things, but I do love my Tacoma, but at the end of the day its just a mass produced vehicle.

I just watched a YouTube video about the famous "1.2 million mile Tacoma", specifically a blue '08 AC 5-lug SR5 owned by an older man from North Carolina. The reason the man put so many miles on his truck is because of his job, and for those of you you don't know, his job is delivering nuclear medicine to chemotherapy centers in a sizeable portion of the Southeast.

The odometer in the truck just stopped at 999,999 miles. The owner was surprised it didn't reset to 1 mile, and has resorted to using the trip odometer and a logbook to keep track of the mileage.

I'm one month away from my second go at being married.

This one makes equal money, has a better pension and has similar assets. She can take her half.

Also, she's not searingly hot and bat shit crazy ..... I learned my lesson the first time.

Good question, my guess is just the specific manufacturer of the clusters in some models.

Only option is replacement or do the same thing as said above watch the maint required light.

I think all 4 cyl toyotas should come with the 7th digit to give you something to shoot for!

I wonder if it's possible for digital odometers to fail prematurely like the analog ones...?

Honestly the only odometer failures ive dealt with have been in the 2nd Gen prius, they have a known issue of the digital cluster failing in the cold and actually have a tsb on it.

Mine is. First marriage. Only marriage. Thirty-six years. I am paying for something I must have done in a previous life. I deserve some kind of tenacity award. "For better or worse." For keeping this promise I shall humbly receive my reward. In the next Life.

1993 4Runner. 411,000 miles. Part of the family. Will attend my funeral, many years from now. They WILL last a lifetime, with a little love and tenderness. (Disclaimer: But not in states that use salt to melt snow.)

At this point it's assumed to be beyond it's mechanical limits.
The cosmetics will fall apart before the drivetrain stops.
A rear main seal at this point costs more than the car is worth.

Years ago, I had an old PoS 1972 Volvo that the odometer had stopped at 376,000 (or there about). It happened before I bought it, so who knows how many miles were on it. The car started every day. We finally just gave it to my brother in-law (ex-wife got pregnant and she wanted a better car). My first car, a Volkswagen Bug, rolled over at 100K (5 digit odometer) and went back to zero. The good old days... when you had to look at wear and tear to try to figure out how many miles were on a car.

My friend had a VW that flipped over at 300k and just started fresh. The taco I kinda get since it's a digital gauge and only has so many numbers and symbols it can display, it's pretty basic as far as digital stuff goes so it can't scroll and display longer numbers.

Meanwhile Land Cruisers plan to go 1m miles and supply you with 300k rebuild and refresh kits for the drivetrain to make sure you get there haha.
