So you are driving a lifted truck with bigger tires at 85MPH and you want to know why it won't hold high gear? A programmer will not be able to fix that issue. Do not spend the money on programming anything and pay attention to the other suggestions above.

Yup, coupled with a lift and heavier than stock wheels/tires and you have the answer to your troubles. Try slowing down. And where is 84 mph legal or safe/sane?

Not sure honestly. I went in once for it at 350 miles and idk if they even did anything and i was just in last week for my 5k service checkup and i brought it up again with nothing having changed so if i had to guess id say no. Im bringing it in next week to have the remote start installed (since you cant lock the doors with it warming up and anyone can just drive it away with no key fob -_- [my one other gripe] ) so ill specifically ask about that while its in and see what they say.

You'd be surprised. Tons of highways here in rural midwest have their speeds as 75 or 80 so 85 isnt a huge stretch. Not sure where the op is from though, he could just be a chronic speeder lol

To each their own. I love the look. I have the look. I ain’t rich but I drive it hard and don’t worry about gas mileage and have no issues with shift points and other problems. The trans has “adapted” to my style and has calmed down a bit. Maybe in reality or in my head. If you love it, drive it, enjoy it. Some will hate it. Life will go on.

I live in the Midwest. Highest speed limit here in central IL is 70 mph and only on 4 lane highways. Look I get it, there ARE places were speed limits are not strictly enforced and 85 mph might be legal and safe. But he has the wrong vehicle for high speed driving. I bet if he backed off the go pedal a tad both he and the truck might be a bit happier.

The two biggest things I see here are rims and speed. Metal has a much higher rolling resistance than rubber. It takes a lot more power to spin, and keep moving, big rims/low sidewall tires than smaller rims with bigger sidewall tires. The other big one is speed. The faster you go, the more wind your fighting; think standing in 65mph winds vs 85mph winds. You can't fight physics...

Yeah up here in Chicago 55 is the limit everywhere. Still the average speed around here is 65-75 and no one gets ticketed unless they are 80+ or doing really stupid maneuvers. That said not defending his choise of speed, i usually run about 65-70 and i still get really poor mpg with the same ridiculous rpms (4000 on average) if i get up to speed shifting in sport mode i don't have this problem but once I'm cruising, even in sport mode, it'll just override me after a few minutes and down shift for no reason and then my mpg gauge goes from a little under the 20 line to a little above the 0 line and i just watch my averages drop like a stone. If i never go faster than 45 mph i can get 20mpg but as my work is a highway drive into the city, my averages are extremely poor all the time. :(
