Currently have a 2009 SR5. Love it yes but times suck and making crazy payments so. Learning how much a lease sucks I am getting out of it so I can play and have way more fun with an older one. I want to get into something pre 1st generation. Found a few locals sales of 1992-1994 trucks. Besides some obvious stuff to look at what other things do I need to check for or I guess what is the first group of DIY mods I'll want to do which can bypass some stuff people neglected for years. I will go up to the 2004 era but probably not for the price I wanna spend.

Just an upgrade if you ask me. No payment and I can beat it up and not care. Do some more off road work and set it up for all we do hunting fishing dogs all that good stuff.

So any advise would help me out. An if anyone knows something close to NY for sale I'm ready to go!

    Thanks in advance

you should look at some 1998-2000 models, a lot cheaper than the 2001+ but are very similiar in appearance/performance

where in ny are you. First off you dont want a pre 05 toyota truck from ny...
or anywhere in the salt belt

you can find killer deals on trucks with absolutly no... i mean noooooo rust in cali or AZ.

I paid $750 to ship my tacoma from ny to cali. The extra 750-850 is well worth having a truck thats solid not full of rust holes... you can then rust proof everything and line ex makes a rust proof undercoating thats not as thick as the bed liner that they spray all over the underside and inside all the body panels to prevent rust.

Well I don't want anything that new. Budget and what I want is on the same page. As I said up top I was looking older.

Yea shipping isn't bad I agree. I just don't want to trust pictures. I like touching and seeing before spending money. Just how I am I guess I don't know how people do it. But yea expanding search outside of salt would make sence being these things do rust away hard.

    Thanks keep it coming

Get an '85... Last year of the solid axle.
    OR
I saw one here on CL that is an '86 with a factory turbo. Apparently they made about 2000 of them to try to keep up with Nissan's new V6.

    THanks.. all good stuff.

Yea 85-95 is what im thinking. I know there was a few options motors and all. Don't need much and don't expect much from it. Just a play truck/a-b driver. Backroads stuff. Hopefully find something soon.

Need to try selling this lease off though! I'll work on an ad to post up in here
