just got the eBay special trd bronze wheels https://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-WHEELS...339024?hash=item3d7d214b50:g:xb8AAOSw5S9bkrGH

Got falken Wildpeaks at3 in 265/75/16...

Had it installed using the recommended lugs (acorn spline) no ET(stock lugs don’t fit)

First drive it was pouring. Seemed fine. Next day wobble/55-65mph shimmy at highway speeds. Brought it back to the discount tire and had it road forced balanced. The manager said they got some weight dropped(I call bs after a shit ton of weight on on the inside and outside of the drivers wheel)

Drove it today and had a much worse 60mph wobble. Steering wheel shook like crazy.. dad was in the passenger seat and was like whoa!

Ima, hoping I don’t just have to return the tires and try to return the wheels... any suggestions?

Is this a serious post? “eBay Special”? Did you expect something better?

If these wheels are crap, and the OP is serious, it would be good to get the message out. I think a lot of guys might be interested in them.

I don’t recall a lot of chat about balance issues with the Falkens.

Not an alignment.. but why would I need an alignment with wheel tires?

It’s within the return policy. Already contacted the seller and they said they would accept a return or exchange.

Have you tried rotating the tires to see if you can narrow it down to 1 wheel/tire?

Alignment issues can cause a similar vibration/shimmy.

Not yet. I can try that. Also ordered new acorn lugs with a longer ET (the discountntire manager owns a 3rd gen taco said they need a longer et but the ones they carried were too thick.

I don’t know. People do weird things. I’m interested if you find out it is the wheels.

Looks like you have your answer.... wrong lug nuts... improperly torqued.

If I put the stock tires back on it goes away. Maybe an inch difference? But I a, doubting that. As for the lugs I don’t know... the manager said he contact seemed good with the acorn style. I’m gonna try that tomorrow. The torque was to spec.

I would start with the correct lug nuts. In fact, I would not drive it with the incorrect lug nuts. Thats just asking for trouble. Put your stock wheels/tires back on until the correct lug nut come in.

The manager said the lug nuts had plenty of turns and made contact. I wouldn’t say it’s incorrect lugs (I doubt they would have let me go) he did say he is used to Toyota wheels using longer ET. I ordered thin acorn with longer et I guess we will see. He had acorn with longer et in stock but he said they would not finish contact... I still think it’s a balance issue because it’s fine over 65 and under 55ish

All right I see a lot of problems here.. The first problem is that the rims are not stock OEM wheels so they might need to be hub centric so that means you need to buy some hubcentric rings for them.. Second problem you might have improper torque and no the alignment won’t get rid of the vibration or is possible that you might have a defective tire separation which is very common.

Sorry, I'm just super anal about torque and clamping power. It makes me nervous when it not exact when it comes to wheels and tires. Especially on something that goes 70+ on the interstate.

One replicas that are 8w... they are hub centric but the lug holes are conical... so even tho the hubs are making direct contact conical lugs May make the rim lug centric.

You may be on to something but a guy on another thread ordered the same wheels But Put the stock tires on.

The only true test would be to mount the stock tires (which I am leaning to tomorrow) 30 day return on DT.. and I TDY (army business trip) for a month on the second...

This dude is having the same problem with the same tires...https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/scs-wheels-hub-centric-insert-balancing-issue.582491/page-3
