I was googling this subject a few days ago and was surprised at the number of 100 and 200K vehicles that never had diff fluid changed. Lots of pics and they didn't fail either.
The rear diff is the strongest part of the truck lol and is sealed.

Anyway. after my Subarus i've always did the 30k drive line services. never an issue down the road. i'm a big believer on changing all fluids when its due but 1,000? Damn thats crazy.

I always do 5k syn oil changes even though they want it at 10k. i dont trust that. these car companies are in the business of selling cars not making them run to a million miles. if they lasted that long then they wouldnt make money

Yes its sealed but you need to think about condensation/ moisture. if your car sits and doesnt move often then you may be prone to that. I bought a used 99 exploder sport (loved that thing) i did all the services on it. when i took out the front and rear fluid i noticed some water in there. the truck didnt leak what so ever. it was an awesome lil suv. its still running too!

My point exactly. I only changed it early to get the initial breakin medals out now that that's done I will run it much closer to 30,000. Probably 20 to 25 thousand is when I'll change it next

There are two main ways car companies make money... up front or at the back end.
They can give you a reliable durable vehicle and make money on the initial sale, or they can break even up front and give you a blingy vehicle that will need repairs and they make money on parts. This is the difference between Toyota and Jeep.
It's impossible to do both and keep the price down enough where normal people can afford it. However the Land Cruiser is an example of luxury and reliability and durability. It's $85K. This is the major difference between a company like Toyota and a company like Jeep.

I can show you my 50 year plus 1966 mustang that probably has 400,000 miles on it has probably had 2 or 3 diff oil changes. The transmission oil was never changed. This car was driven cross country from Cali to Ga 3 times, not to mention several hundred thousand miles driving flat out in Europe regularly hitting 100mph on the autostrada and autobahn. If we had changed the oil as frequently as these nuts do here we would have spent several thousand dollars on oil that would have netted absolutely nothing except changed oil.

It amazes me how willing people are too waste money unnecessarily. You might as well buy lottery tickets if you have that kind of disposable income. At least you have a chance of getting something back.

Which is why I would never buy used vehicle from someone. They think changing oil every now and then it's going above and beyond. God forbid you decide to do other maintenance. Some people are just retarded.

Changing the oil more frequently than required does not improve longevity. You do realize that things like your horn, head liner, shift linkage, etc. are not impacted at all by how frequently you change you oil? It virtually impossible for anyone to drive a car that nothing breaks before your motor suffers an engine oil related failure? People dwell way too much and spend way too much time overthinking this topic.

LMAO what a contradiction. Don't buy an Audi or a VW because you'll probably die over the factory recommended 20k oil changes.

There is a reason why Toyota chose 0w-20 and why it's changed every 10k. Just as there is a reason why Audi chose 5w-40 for their engines and 20k oil changes.

So those little deposits know by instinct to only adhere to the low spots on the gears and not the high spots on both gears so that backlash is reduced to zero causing seizure?

I just changed out the front and rear diff fluids at 9800 miles.... mainly because the rear diff fluid level was well below the fill hole. It was about a quart low. Better safe than sorry was my thinking. I won't be doing it again until 50,000 miles. my .02 cents on why I changed them both
