Had to swap out my crappy garage door opener for this guy. IMG_20181229_124259.jpgI can't believe Toyota doesn't have these Homelink mirrors as standard items.

IMG-5533.JPG.jpg IMG-5532.jpg IMG-5531.jpg A buddy of mine got a killer deal on the 4Runner TRD Off-Road wheels so I threw them on my '17 SR to see how they looked. Its a little goofy without the rubber but I think they'll look sweet with the 255/75R17 BFG's I want. Now I'm on the hunt for a set of these wheels. I also just purchased Morimoto HID's (35W/4500k) and LED fogs. My goal for 2019 is to get a hitch/receiver installed and a black softopper but my wallet is telling me to pace myself:rofl:.

I'm going to install mine tomorrow. Any issues? I've seen the install videos, but they are all for 2016/2017 models without the front view camera.

None. I didn't even have time to open my beer which tells you how quickly I installed it. Unscrew it from the windshield (blue arrow) and press down on the tab located behind the mirror to remove the cable (red arrow). Reverse the process and done. It took me longer to calibrate it because I had to finish my beer first and then drive to the nearest cul-de-sac to make two circles for it to self calibrate. image000000.jpg

Nice ride! It'll look good with BFG's...The SoftTopper was a tough purchase for me too :spending:but after 3 months I'm very glad I did it. Well worth it!

So you didn't have to unclip the wire cover? Never understood why that was necessary.

    Thanks!

Added taco tailgate letters, washed and waxed. Also washed my sons Subie Outback. Makes me think I should have gotten MGM instead.

Got it off of Amazon actually, one of those little things that worked out just as good as I had hoped lol .... the cable i got is a USB to Type-C because I have a Pixel phone ... not sure if the seller has other types of cables, but here is the link to the one I got.

I like these wheels on mine. The BFG tires are a no brainer. I had a set of 2018's with the black highlights but I like the 2016 with all gray. I did swap center caps with the 2018's though.

Removed air dam. Looks like the tech stripped a screw after dropping skids for last oil change. Kinda disappointed they left it half-in instead of fixing it. Will note that on next interval.
    4B7DACE8-9175-4A10-BDD5-10AD5C07755B.jpg

Afterwards, continued with de-chroming the interior. Pulled and painted the a/c rings, start button bezel, change holder bezel, shift knob boot ring, and steering wheel logo.
Disconnected negative terminal so I 1, didnt honk a hundred times, and 2, felt better working near the airbag. ALSO, the dash plastic is very soft. Be very careful on your use of tools to pry lest you get some unwanted residual scoring or tool marks.

    Steering wheel logo:
It is VERY rubbery, so dont be afraid to torque it. You cannot break it. It is held on with 11 elastic posts that extend through the cover and are melted on (3 on each side, 1 top, 1 bottom, and 3 center). I used a dentists scraper to pry up then flat snips to cut the post flush. I sanded to rough it up but probably too much. It appeared a little fuzzy around the edges. Go easy and just rough it up vice sanding off all the chrome. Hit it with 4 coats of Krylon matte black.
    upload_2018-12-29_16-56-8.jpg upload_2018-12-29_17-1-46.jpg

    A/C rings:
These are a bit trickier. Pry off the dash surrounds. Just pull straight out. They come off easy. On the back you will see each a/c vent come out by slightly lifting three tabs. Remove the guts of the vent then look for the 6 melted posts that hold on the chrome ring. I used needle nose pliers to pinch the nub/mushroom tip and a small punch to push the ring through. Do this for all 4 vents. Roughed it with 60 grit then some 220 gently and hit each with 3 coats of the same paint.
    64DF66DA-8766-4F21-88F2-26AE4B2E1669.jpg 3EFC1288-55AA-42AE-992F-203BBF52A1C8.jpg F54ACBDD-A75D-4E0E-AB0B-09FF9F84014E.jpg

    Start button:
Easy day here. Just pry from the outside with a fingernail to start it, then use a plastic pry tool to pop it straight out. Same prep for paint as a/c rings.
    2C7CDB29-B492-4101-BB89-A7B34E9023B0.jpg

    Change holder bezel:
Pretty easy removal. Just pry straight up with fingers. Prep for paint as above.

    Shift knob boot ring:
This one is easy but took some exploratory prying.
Pull the boot down and unsnap it from the knob. Unscrew and remove the knob. Then just pull the whole center assembly straight off. Just be cautious with the electrical assembly that connects beneath (I didnt need to disconnect this). The e-brake boot just pops out after. Push the shifter-boot through the top and you will see the zip tie holding the ring to the boot. Snip the tie and push the ring through. Prep for paint same as above.

Fun to see it all removed. Last coats are drying. Debating hitting them all with a coat of matte clear. Will post reinstall pics after!
