For the past couple of Winters since I've moved to the High Desert I've had some driveability issues with my 02 DC Tacoma Pre Runner with a supercharged 3RZ 4cyl that has 69k miles on the odometer

Last Winter I was hearing a groaning noise under boost which I thought was belt slip . Had the belts changed and all idler and tensioner pulleys replaced . These last few weeks where it's been in the low 30deg temps I'm again hearing the same noise again only under heavy boost !!

Other issue I've noticed only when really cold and doesn't happen all the time is my power steering sometimes feels very stiff but don't notice or hear belts squealing

The last issue is the engine seems to bog off idle unless I'm on the throttle hard but this goes away after the engine is warmed up . I do have a K&N CAI and every few months i clean the MAF and TB

The filter is clean and no dirt debris is noticed . This issue doesn't happen all the time and no codes showing , also I had the 60k mile service done 2 yrs ago

Now the off idle hesitation can that be from getting very cold air into the motor and the MAF not communicating with the ECM ??

I’m sorry that you don’t have the v6.
I think the supercharger is what’s making it like that. I wouldn’t see any other thing that would cause that based on your post low mileage beast:thumbsup:

Especially since you said the noise is only under boost. Get yourself a nice naturally aspirated v6 and you prob be good to go

    Working on them
Check oil supply / pressure and what is recommended for oil viscosity for the temperatures you are in, My Benz with a supper charger was doing similar thing when that cold and I found out that my oil viscosity was incorrect for that kind of temperatures.
