99-03 powerstroke f250 & f350’s had dana 60’s up front. 03+ All superduty f series had dana 60 up front. Dana 50’s on Excursions until ‘05. Not an expert but have a ‘99 dana 60 on the front of my bronco. I can look at the axle stamp tomorrow if you need

 

I think I'm going to hope it's a dana 60, pop out the axle, and count the inner splines. But if it's a 248, im pretty sure it's a 60

But I do know some f series came with 50s. I've done inner axle seals on em. Not sure if its diesel or a certain package, but be forewarned when looking at axles out of those early 2000 f series

 

If it’s 99-03 diesel it’s a dana 60. 99-01 gas is a dana 50. 02 gas some had 50’s some had 60’s. In ‘03 all f250’s had a dana 60. Your plan is solid, I would take it regardless if they were free. Mine costed a grand if I remember correctly in 2004

The satisfaction of fabricating your own parts. Would have been much easier and turned out better if I had a drill press, but it works. Not anything Tacoma related, it's actually an adapter for my new copy-stand for photo work.
