I did about 2 hours ago. Took it for a test drive. Shifting was smooth, but mine has always been smooth. On the highway it stayed in 5th, didn’t hang out in 4th anymore. RPMs seemed generally lower, throttle more responsive. ECT mode is crazy responsive. Starting from a stoplight, it even spun out a little in first on dry pavement. Want to see how the fuel consumption is on my commute next week, but first impression is it’s a nice improvement over 1.04R.

Speaking of 1.04R, did you notice that it lost its luster over time? I've had it for about 3 months. It started off awesome, but I feel like it has steadily got worse over that time to the point of where it is pretty much stock again. Is it just me or is that a known issue? Relearning of bad habits perhaps?

FYI, I installed the 93 tune. Filled up with VP Racing 93 octane this morning and added a bottle of VP Racing Madditive Fuel System Cleaner in anticipation of the release. I’m running 285s on 17s, BP-51 lift, full armor underneath, so a bit on the heavy side. Stock gears.

I’ve heard others complain about that. Don’t know if it’s true, or we just want more subconsciously. The main difference in 1.04R for me was it included the TSB so 6th gear was no longer just hypothetical. That never changed for me.

Only do this if you hate yourself. My truck will never see the stock tune for as long as I own it.

If I remember correctly 1.04R still had some learning habits. If I also remember correctly since Mat unlocked more of the ecu 1.05 is supposed to have no learning now. After all the tables have settled in it should stay the same throughout.

I've had the tune since the very beginning and just flashed today's release and went for a drive.

It's amazing what Mat has accomplished. My simple review, it's smooth and very responsive. Couldn't be happier.

Now that the Tacoma drivers have had their prayers answered, the ones that have obtained their nectar will soon begin the migration. All other members must wait for their chance to flash. The migration will be swift and this thread will eventually be left empty as everyone moves to the turbo thread for further developments

A few listed in the signature
I emailed Mat about my 1.05 comments.

I will sum up everything here as well for the masses.

I was an OG dongle client.

    I am running 87 octane.

    - pedal feel is closer to 1.03 just not as touchy. I love it
    - gas mileage is way up
    - I can accelerate in 5th gear with no issues
    - 1-2 is extremely smooth about time really
    - I do not have any idling issues, when I installed it the truck had been driven for 25 mins prior and was at temp

By far the best tune yet. I have 265/75/16 tires like Mat so that may help explain things also.

I highly recommend the update and will update after a couple more tanks of gas.

Let me know if you have any questions, please note the other mods I have also, I am not sure if they are a factor or not.
