So I recently discovered that none of the trailers I have ever hauled had functional running lights, or so I thought. What I discovered was that neither the 4 pin connector or 7 pin has voltage on the pin that corresponds to the running lights! Anyone else had this issue?

Of course it will be going to Toyota for warranty work on this along with my front rotors warped at 20k...

Did you try checking the fuses yet?

No. I assumed that since the running lights work on the truck they must therefore work on the rear pins?

Ok so I’m trying to figure out if it has a separate fuse for the trailer tail lights?

If you look at the left side of the diagram you can see that there is a 30 amp fuse labeled trailer tow. You need to locate that fuse and see if it’s blown. Probably in the fuse box under the hood.

Yes I did see that. I just assumed it applied to all the lights. The turn and brake lights work. Just no tail lights. But I’ll look at it.

Sorry I don’t have access to my Taco at the moment, but the fuses are labeled on the box lid.

Hey Zack, OK, it’s sorta OT, but as per your last comment - Why did your rotors warp? Are you towing a heavy trailer w/o brakes? Sorry about the lights, I have the same model with normal trailer lights. Hope it works for you soon!

When I had this happen to me it was the trailer light fuse under the hood. The cause was traced to a shorted wire on a friend’s trailer.

Ok good to know on the fuse.

The rotors started getting slightly warped at 10k. Now at 20 the whole truck shakes. I have pulled 5000lbs trailers a maximum of 400 miles over the 20k miles. They did not get hot I assure you. My rear brake drums were warped from the factory and I had them turned at 5k by Toyota. I’m also missing a gas lid rubber bump.

Well thanks so much. It was a blown fuse under the hood! Thank you Toyota for protecting the rest of the truck!!
