    Hello—

Lots of threads about connecting a front camera using a mod to the OEM Entune system; however, I’m struggling to find info about wiring a front camera to an aftermarket head unit (Pioneer AVH-4400NEX).

The head unit has an extra AV input that I can use for the video signal for the front camera. My question is best practice for wiring the hot (red) and black (negative) wires for the camera. Should I simply connect the red wire using an add-a-fuse to an existing circuit in the fuse box?

    Thanks!

I went the add-a-fuse route to my recent Kenwood upgrade. It also had a front camera input. Works great for my needs.

Would you mind sharing the fuse circuit that you tapped?

I used the 10 amp DRL and have a lower AMP inline before the camera.

Has anyone else done something similar? Sounds like this means the camera is only getting power when DLRs are on, but as long as they are on, switching to the front camera input on the head unit will provide picture. With DRLs off i'm assuming it would be a blank screen. Is there a way to trigger it from the HU? -+
