I’m certain it will cause excess stress on your frame as these are not the same weight as the spec OEM parts. Think it out before you mod those tire stems

Guys I’m really nervous about this, I don’t want to void my Powertrain warranty. You sure the new caps wont throw off my TPMS?

I heard that it does throw off your TPMS. Requires a Toyota specific tool to calibrate your TPMS sensors to these. This tool cannot be purchased and the calibration runs roughly $400 at the dealership.

Yes and no. Less expansion and contraction with nitrogen vs. purely compressed air. MOST vehicles will not make a difference, however the TPMS on my wifes Acura is so tempermental we had to do this to keep the sensors from poping errors. When the tires warm up the sensors kick back off BUT the nitrogen does keep it from popping errors in the first place.

Also TPMS works off PSI, you could put all 4 sensors in a confined pvc container and add air to the correct PSI and they would keep your sensors from going off, the type of air has no bearing on the TPMS function unless it’s a contraction and expansion issue.

Unless it’s free, I wouldn’t ask a shop to do it.

Sorry to include facts, I know we all prefer the “my buddy said” logic, but...

I say BS. Our Rav4 came with Nitrogen tires from the dealer, and even the mechanic at the dealership said it was a rip off. Not to be an ass, but maybe your Acura TPMS sensors were bad. I've had Nitrogen in my KO2's, and I've yet to spot a difference than when I fill up my tires with air from the machine at Valero.

I used to work at a Acura/Honda dealership. When customers came in and requested nitrogen, the tech would just pull the car in and leave it in the shop for 15 minutes to make it look they they actually put nitrogen in.

I asked why they do this and they all said that at the Honda training facility they sometimes get sent to, they did several tests in front of them to demonstrate that it makes virtually no difference.

Nitrogen filled tires compared to regular air filled tires is like comparing Starbucks coffee to a $2 coffee from Stripes...

It's the same shit, one's just overpriced.

This thread got me all confused now. I'm going to just get some run-flats and take all the air out of my tires.

    No air = no confusion.

Call it what you want. Did’nt ask for it but it did solve the issue. Sensors were not bad btw. Some states have bigger temp differences throughout the day then TX. Never had nor never needed nitrogen in my truck tires. By no means did I say it was a catch all or even worth the effort ACCEPT in certain circumstances. Not a huge difference, BUT there is less expansion and contraction.
