Death Valley is the only major park I've been to in Cali that wasn't swamped like the streets of New Delhi

Oh God... Last time I went to Yosimte I wanted to start throat punching people. Holy Cow it was like shopping at WalMart on the day after Thanksgiving.

It was also the day Dean Potter died base jumping in Yosimite.

Yeah DV is so big it's a good place to go when it's not hot to get away from people. Lot of the national forest areas aren't so bad but if you're headed for the wheeling spots ya they can get pretty crowded. It's gotten really bad just in the last couple of years since the 'overlanding' craze has come into the scene. People are starting to get really protective of the lesser known trails they discover and for good reason imo. As soon as someone with an IG following hashtags a place it's all over

They demolished it in 2015 to build *gasp* Condos.

 

Yeah, you understand why my wheeling group is so closed mouth about these things. It can be all over just like that with how fast info can travel

 

Dont worry The Rock will save the day if that happens

 

Well the condos were expected, but that's my bad, I knew it was gone but i confused it with the Kingdome in Seattle haha

 

They got alot of desertout there. Why long travel is super popular

 

Yosemite is still very much worth it if you hike into the back country where the day trippers and vehicles can't go. But ya otherwise it's too much of a tourist trap park...there are much better parts of the Sierras for camping/wheeling/exploring. One of these days is like to head up there in my truck, I've only been around the southern Sierras. Still my favorite trip(s) though to this day

 

He’s actually from my hometown of Hayward weirdly enough. Tom Hanks went to the same college I went to auto tech school at down the street from me.

 

Tom Hank's is one dude I'd like to meet, has a good sense of humor about himself.

I want to laugh but deep down I know I need to avoid those or I'll end up with another hobby that drains my bank account

I get what you're saying. And you're right. But I prefer hiking the places I frequent where I can go an entire day without seeing another person.
