Revtek suspension lift on 2018 Tacoma TRD PRO

Recently sold my 2012 trail teams FJ (which I still deeply regret) and bought a 2018 Tacoma TRD Pro and really want it to sit up a couple more inches without giving up the feel of the fox suspension. I already plan on getting 33" tires to raise it a bit but also interested in the Revtek 427AP suspension lift. Does anyone with a Pro have this suspension lift on theirs and how much did it hurt the ride quality of your Pro. I am not a heavy off roader and this is my daily driver. Also wondering how difficult it is to install. Is it doable for an average joe or should I take it to a shop to be installed? Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

 

So you bought Toyotas most capable offroader but you're not a heavy offroader? Essentially you bought a fully capable mall crawler. Sweet! Block lifts are usually not a recommended add-on to aftermarket OR suspensions because it not only changes the synergy of the suspension but may also void any warrenty from the manufacturer if a malfunction arises. Plus a 2" block lift on top of 2 inches from the Fox suspension and you'll have so much droop you'll never get a propper alignment. I know exactly what you mean by not sitting high enough. One of the reasons I didn't get the pro was because they just don't sit quite high enough and don't have the aggressive stance I prefer and since I too wanted 33's the pro was not an option since removal and replacement of the Fox suspension is the only way to get 33's to fit under the pro.

Its not all bad news. 31's are a fun size and they'll fit under the Pro with out a cab mount chop.

 

I’ve seen some stock Pros on here with 33’s with no problem rubbing besides some with tight turns. Least that is what they say is the case

 

Technically yes 33's will fit but you have to get pizza cutter width and no less than +10 offset...but then you're tires don't fill out the wheel wells very well and honestly don't look right but that's just me. Sorry just trying to shine a little reality on the subject. The pro is a nice rig but you're limited to what you can do with the suspension which limits you to what will fit under the wheel wells. I don't know why toyota didn't just throw a 3" suspension on the pro and call it fantastic but sadly the they did not.

 

Are you planning on adding any permanent weight such as rock sliders, a bed rack or a shell, and/or a RTT?

I would take with a grain of salt the opinion of anyone without a TRD PRO. I’ve noticed they are either ignorant or jealous and will lead you astray. A handful of people here are running 33s on TRD PROs with no lifts and no rubbing. Some people have experienced some rubbing on the wheel well covers or the UCA. Regardless, anyone with a TRD OR will swear it is impossible and that it will destroy your ride quality. Interestingly, many PRO owners report otherwise. 33s look great.

Those that have installed the Revtek kit 427AP report no significant impact in how the suspension performs.

If you are adding weight you may want to avoid the single AAL that comes with the Revtek kit. It will sag.

So there are 2 different kits for the TRD Pros, would you say the Revtek 427AP kit with the AAL kit would be better or get the kit with the rear block instead? im not too familiar with the difference and which one would be better suited for me,

Between the two the AAL is a better option. I wouldn't run blocks in back if I could help it.

 

I went with Kings on mine. No ragrets.

 

I'm curious about something and I may be missing something but I want to be sure. Is there a benefit to buying a Pro if you're going to be adding your own parts like Kings? Wouldn't it make more sense to buy a lower trim level or is there something else you get with the Pro besides the suspension?

 

Sell you pro suspension and buy a different setup that's gonna get the stance you're looking for.

Even better, trade someone with the yellow bilsteins for your suspension, buy a spacer lift and pocket the extra cash. Spend the money on lots of beer.

 

A single leaf AAL doesn’t sag. The leaf pack it’s attached to does. For load carrying or towing, a single AAL is stronger than a multi-leaf AAL, and actually contributes to handling unlike a block does. Not sure where you reading, but that’s a wholly inaccurate tidbit.

A single AAL can have a rougher unloaded rise compared to a progressive multi-leaf, but for weight carrying is a better option.

A progressive multi-leaf will ride better unloaded but will not support the weight like a single AAL does.

 

I have this kit with the aal on my pro. Initially got a lot of crap about it until people realized that the fox suspension is way more beefy than the bilsteins which break with spacers. Do some extended bump stops with it and you'll never have any issues. Ride quality to me is great! The look is perfect in my opinion and the best option until I can save up for the kings setup down the road. I also wasn't ready to ditch those awesome Fox's just yet.

P.s I wheel mine pretty damn hard so speaking from some real world experience.

I was specifically referring to the Revtek AALs which have been reported to sag, not AAL or leaf packs in general. I don’t know who makes that leaf for Revtek.

 

If I could go back, I would definitely have bought a lower trim model. Like I said, no ragrets. The Kings perform way better, are taller, and handle the weight of my set up flawlessly. Swhoops!
