Nope. Costco better fucking have one in stock to give me a new one or I’m going to be real pissed off. I’ve got my whole brisket rubbed and ready and if they don’t have one for me then I have to wait a week from traeger to get them to send it.

Check the fuse, it may be hidden under a little plastic box mounted on the motherboard of the PID itself.

The PID turns on. It just doesn’t stop the temp where it’s supposed to

I'm just talking from my experience....Louisiana grills fire up to 350 or so, then you can set your temp and she'll settle in. It's part of their startup....not so for Traeger? I mean, I'm sure you've used it before so you would know. Just throwing it out there.

I have not used it. But when I had it set to 225 and it was reaching 400 degrees, that’s a little off

Ya Traeger doesn’t work like that. You set the temp to Smoke and it starts up. After 4-5 mins you set the temp you want and it adjusts to that.

The controllers on my WSM work just fine!!
    :boink:

In all seriousness, that’s what’s holding me back from buying a pooper.

Electrical issues are the worst. Even though I haven’t used it, i imagine Itll be nice to not have to monitor the temperature and play with it as much. But then when it shits out you’re SOL

I’ve never had a controller issue. Things can go wrong with any product made by man so don’t let that hold you back. :)

After a 23 hour cook, I think I finally made brisket that doesn't suck. Lump and hickory for almost 10 hours + 13 in the oven at 225 over night. It was cold here yesterday so it was only at 160 coming off the smoker.

That sucks. Trade it for a GMG. Sorry, that was just mean. Good luck.
Long shot here, but unplug it for a bit and retry?

That's why I bought a Weber kettle as a backup. GMG didn't quit, but power was out. In retrospect, I should have bought a cheapo gasser for a backup.

Well the Traeger rep was still at Costco. And he didn’t tell us to just buy a new one and return the broken one.

Doing the initial firing now. Might be able to get the brisket on today after all but just won’t be able to have it until midnight :goingcrazy:

Even on the high end electric smokers a lot of people end up replacing the PID. I don't even own a pellet pooper or electric smoker, yet, but eventually will. Dedicated for fish. And will replace the PID with an Auber Instruments no matter what I get.

You still can get a Weber Genesis, we both likely have had a shitload of those cheapo gassers that end up getting thrown away after a few years. You can never have too many grills and smokers of any type.

Have 2 more kettles now since this picture. Not sure where the next one is going to go LOL but it will have a plug on it.
