In my experience it's predominant function is to protect the sensor from lock on road missiles like gravel and small rocks, as well as to prevent it from being coated with road salt, snow, rain, and things like that.

The slot on the grille itself has holes where this shroud covers the whole sensor up. Essentially it keeps it covered and working.

Only the dealership could do it, if it is possible. And they won’t.

I like the TSS system, but mine does not like low sunlight, snow, and grime. Been to the dealership twice,” functioning as designed “.

Yes, exactly. And they don't need to either. It's a non problem to most people.

Okay, so the grille itself will give you a slot to relocate the TSS sensor. Yes, that location is where you see the shroud to be placed. However, the shroud does not house the sensor, it simply covers it. That is it's purpose, to cover and protect the sensor. Because when water or snow or salt or dirt gets on the sensor, it begins to think that it's detecting things that are not there, and that can be a problem.

I don't know if it's the new year or what the cause is, but I've noticed that both the [bad] eBay seller I bought from and the [good] Amazon seller I bought from don't have their listings up anymore. Either way, if I was taking a risk, I'd rather take it from Amazon. eBay's policy makes you wait 3-4 days before you can talk to someone other than your seller for help. With amazon, you can call immediately and get some help. I have not purchased the item from this listing, but given those reasons if I was in your position I might give this one a shot:

    https://www.amazon.com/ORFORD-Bumpe...8-2-spons&keywords=tacoma+trd+pro+grill&psc=1

Or even better, you might be able to wait around a couple weeks and see if the seller Seven Sparta has their ad back on, or if anyone gives this any positive reviews...

    Good Luck!

I wanted to update this thread with my experience. Initially I've ordered one from eBay by the recommendation of one of the members. The initial quality was vey good, unfortunately it did not accept sensor garnish without modifications, so I returned it. I then ordered one from MadHornets (big mistake). Their quality was much worse. There were numerous defects and bumps on the front of the grille. I contacted them on the same day I received it, no response. Two days later I send another email and finally a day later got a response asking for the photos. Sent them the photos and asked them to provide me with RMI, day later got another response adding insult to injury by offering me a 10% discount, said NO, would like to return the product. Another day passed, got another response asking if I would take 40% off and get it repaired locally. Said NO, just want my money back and if they don't take it back I'll have to dispute the charges. Never heard back from them. Ended up disputing the charge trough my AMEX. Word of caution, for those of you who are thinking of ordering one from Madhornets, DON"T DO IT! unless you're willing to tolerate piss poor quality. Better off getting one from Amazon or Ebay, at least you can return it without problems if you don't like it.

PS. Madhornets grille ships from China. They claim that they have an office in USA but I don't think they do. Probably just a POBox to make it look like they're based in US.

I'm sorry to hear this. I have been extremely happy with my grille from them, but based on this, it sounds like they are sourcing the parts from different vendors or at least have poor QC. Based on this, I'll rescind my recommendation for Mad Hornets, but I will say that I am still very happy with mine. Sorry your experience was so bad!
