I’ve had my 2012 OR for 6 years, and I just got used to it, but always have everyone else that has driven it mention the brake pedal. I never thought much of it, but my point being that mine has always been like that, and I’ve never had any issues either.

What pray tell is a "Tuned Rotor". And how do you tune one?

Well I bought the truck. The dealer agreed to have a mechanic check it out to make sure everything is as it should be. I drove it home today (1 hour drive) and they worked just fine but they just seem a little firm when pressing the pedal. Maybe it just takes getting used to but definitely not a touchy brake system.

Good, that means they're working! Enjoy the pedal feel, the vacuum assisted setups on the rest of the trucks are notoriously soft and they aren't exactly confidence inspiring

Hey guys so here's an update just for anyone in the future with the same problem. Turns out it's the ABS module. Really glad the shop found this and not me later on. Not a cheap part by the looks of it.

    None.....yet.
having the same issue. just picked up a 12' TRD and the break pedel is very hard. no give AT ALL. but it also feels like if they are already engaged because when i lift off the gas, it slows down pretty damn quick. even going down a small incline. ad i did the math, its getting about 9-11 MPG. was hoping the 2 were one and the same problem but before i picked the truck up they put brand new rotors, pads and calipers on both front wheels. just starting to get mechanically inclined but haven't messed with breaks at all....yet.

I had to check this out because I have never heard the word "hard" associated with Tacoma brakes. First time I stepped on my truck's brakes I thought it was mashed potatoes to the floor.
