What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Damn, I was about to make a stalling clutch joke too but just remembered his truck is auto.

@BartMaster1234 is a professional noob if he can stall an auto trans.

 

Could it been I was almost out of gas? I’m not too sure since it drove the five-six miles to the gas station just fine.

Yeah, maybe the dual transmission swap was a mistake.

 

I was on level ground. Fuel was low, but it drove just fine to the station.

 

Yeah I just realized that.

 

Yes, mine does it when I start getting low.

Did it the other day pulling into the station, tank was drained though.

 

Just when starting? I would’ve suspected low fuel, but like I said it drove about 6 miles no issue.

Oh so you started it and it died? I miss understood

 

Mine does that once in a blue moon in cold weather (cold for Cali) when my IAC is dirty.

 

I’ve never had it start and die I don’t think, just when I go up a steeper hill and have low fuel

 

I started it, it ran for two or three seconds, and died while I was in Drive and pulling away from a curb.

 

Yeah my IAC gets stuck sometimes when it's dirty & is cold. Cold start won't work so when I start the truck in the morning it'll start & die out. I have to give it gas for a bit to get it to idle. I know when my IAC is dirty cause my remote start won't work. Only when the truck is dead cold though & very rarely it happens.

Now I just clean my IAC every 2 yrs or so. I guess I should really just replace the IAC already.

 

Is your plan to leave those on all the time, or are they removable? Pics of install/process?

 

Okay, even stranger. The fuel gauge went to quarter tank when I just filled it up. I just noticed it was at quarter tank when I got home, even though it’s full. It was indicating at full right after I filled it.

 

Check the electrical connector on top of your fuel tank

 

The are a semi-permanent install since the are riveted to the OEM fiberglass fender. They can be removed but will leave holes in the fiberglass flare. But it's fiberglass and easily repaired if it really bothers someone.
