LC 100 series headlights almost look like they'd make an attractive replacement for the ugly oversized candle reflectors in the 98-00 Tacos, but I'm sure they aren't the right size, just look similar

Oh but they can, they just don't put any diffusing in front of the projector. Silvias come to mind. Aftermarket too, we used to sell tons of 92-95 civic glass projectors.

Those are curious, I wonder if the OEM glass production on the clear sections is superior to aftermarket or something. The three retrofit guys I talked to about retroing glass enclosures (not diffused ones) said the glass would warp the output from the projector. I do like the early round E30 and Integra projectors too and I think those might be glass.

Interesting, never thought about that & makes sense. Integras, both US style & Japan style headlights are plastic. The actual projector itself is glass though, I think I still have a piece of one from my Integra laying around somewhere.

I made a set for my light bar, merely cutting some of that corrugated plastic cardboard and attaching with some of that Velco that will wrap around and fasten on itself.

Any particular reason for making a cover? Does NY have that law too or just for road hazard protection?

Actually on the advice of friends in W. Va. Apparently lots of folks get pulled over for the overhead light bars down there. So easy and cheap to make, I figured it was worth it, if it kept me from getting hassled while I was down there for hunting seasons.

Well now is the time to do so and get a nice one, the 80 series is already going back up sharply in price if it isn't destroyed and the 100 series are nearing their rock bottom

Yeah. And the LX 470 is like half the price of an identical LC100

Yeah those are cool but the extra doodads and shit break, they are Land Cruisers no doubt but they always seem more dated and weathered by comparison when all their shit is broken and you cannot get replacements.

Some of it you can others won't match and will look all weird. Easier to just start with a cruiser. The LX450 is the only one where everything really changes over easily

    I wouldn’t mind a 80 or 450, but I don’t really have a need for it. Think the 100 or 470 be a much better street queen

They both get awful MPG and are heavy. But yeah the 100 with it's IFS will probably have better road manners.

My tacoma gets awful fuel mileage so nothing new to me.

But yeah i feel like a 100 will be more luxury inside and have better road manners.
