    I have mods
The are a semi-permanent install since the are riveted to the OEM fiberglass fender. They can be removed but will leave holes in the fiberglass flare. But it's fiberglass and easily repaired if it really bothers someone.

Just posted a quick how-to in my build thread.

    That’s worrisome. I’ll see if I can.

It's not easy to see but if you get you hand up there you can make sure it's secure.

Nothing seems awry with the connector. I could barely touch it, but they seemed secure.

How low is 'low' when you say you were low on gas when this happened?

Too many 'lows' in that sentence...the word sounds funny to me now

If you were really low (like several miles into the gas light coming on)...maybe what little gas was left sloshed around and the pump couldn't pick up enough at that moment and it stalled out?

What a coincidence this actually just happened to me for the first time this morning. It's been single digits here, so went to start and warm the truck up this morning and it started fine and then just petered out and died. Started it right back up, gave it some gas, and all was good.
Guess I need to clean my IAC valve then haha.

I forget how big the 4x4 tank is, but when I filled up it was 14.8 Gallons.

So you don't have the 4x4 tank? Or is it smaller on the 98?

No I have the 4x4 tank, pretty sure all 6-Lugs came with a standard sized tank. I believe the difference is the 5-Lug tank.

My running theory is that it could be it was gas sloshing away from the fuel pump. I do remember the road being fairly level, however the truck did roll after it stalled.

Yeah that's what I thought too. But you were only able to put 15 gal in your tank on fill up? Or was your tank not empty?

Would have to be really low for it to happen that fast, the tank has a surge box so that gas can't slosh too much away from the pump and on mine it took a good 10 seconds of chuggging to die when i ran it out stopping at a stop one time.

It was pretty damn empty. That’s when the gas pump clicked off.

I do wonder what it was. That stalling issue and the inaccurate gas gauge when I came home could be part of a bigger issue.

So you still had three gallons or so. When mine clicked off after I died in the middle of the road for a sec. I put in 17.7gal

My v6 4x4 has an 18 gallon tank...if yours is 18 too then I doubt that the gas sloshing around caused this. I've filled up with the light on several times and never had the truck stall out on me. I guess it's a possibility but it just seems unlikely unless you were running on fumes or close to it.

You sure you maybe don't have a smaller tank? If yours is 15 gallons then the sloshing gas + stalling would seem much more likely

That’s comforting, that means I had a little over 2.5 gallons. Wonder what’s going on with my fuel system.

Oh weird. My tank is 18.5 gal. I pretty much know when my truck will start sputtering looking at how far down the needle goes. Usually if I get my needle below the last line, it'll take just over 17 gal of gas. My last fill up was 17.3.

IIRC my truck will start to sputter on level ground with only 3/4 of a gallon left. I forget, it's been many years since I've done that & I try not to.

Very sure it’s the 18 gallon. My 5-lug has the 15 gallon tank and it’s very different.

When I added my 4WD position lights, I noticed my gas light wasn’t pinned from the factory. You know how many times I relied on that damn light? Haha

Fuel filter got a clog maybe? I know they're more of a pain to do on the 4cyl but could be a good place to start and rule it out, they're pretty cheap. Think I paid $20 for my Wix one
