I have a 2018 TRD OR DCLB and just ordered fox factory 2.5 external reservoirs for front and back. I want to lift the truck 1 to 1.5 inches and level the truck.

I'm new to suspension and not sure what I'll need for the rear end. I've found a 1.5" icon AAL pack, but is this even necessary for a 1.5" lift? I know there is some rake already so will 1" in the front level the truck? I do carry some heavy loads once in a while..

Does the TRD pro have different leaf springs then the OR? If not is the TRD pro only lifted in the front?

Suggestions on how to best accomplish this lift would be awesome. I'm also looking for a good shop in the North SF Bay Area.

    Please help!! Thanks!!!

if you want to level the truck and only lifting the front 1 to 1.5" will level the truck. no need to lift the rear.

@allrsdup Thanks for the response. Is there a benefit to keeping the stock rake and not leveling out? If I can afford it is it worth adding a 1.5" AAL?

If leveling then you leave the rear alone. The benefit of the rake is if you actually use the bed, load it up with it leveled and your nose high.

trucks come with a rake so when you load the bed it wont bottom out. Im gonna level mine with some C/O's the rear fits my 285's fine.

I do use my truck to move materials a few times per month. I have already bottomed out the rear end carrying gravel and sod. having the truck ride nose high really sucks. If I lift it 1 to 1.5 in the front with fox factory 2.5s what do you suggest I run in the rear? 1.5" AAL?

Anyone have pictures of a 3rd gen with 1.5" lift front and rear and stock wheels/tires??

My suggestion is keep some rake. Trucks look goofy perfectly level or nose high, at least to me.

This is 1.5” up front and back from stock, maintaining rake (though it doesn’t show). I’m on 1 leaf added to factory pack, and Billstein 5100s up front on stock springs.

Nice man. Looks clean. How much taller are those wheels/tires compared to stock TRD OR? I don't have the funds to upgrade the tires/wheels this round so was going to ride on stock..wondering if the 1.5" lift will make it look funny.

What leaf kit did you add to the back?

I ran a Dakar medium pack. Happy with the performance

Fall pic is empty bed. The winter is with about 600lbs of gear in the bed, plus passenger and more gear in the cab. IMG_20181012_153407.jpg NWM_grp7-7.jpg

The outer diameter is only increased by 1” (1/2 taller). I went from 265/70/16 on stock OR 16” rims to 265/70/17 on 17” TRD 4Runner rims. This is the same change as if you went to 265/75/16 on the stock 16” OR rims. You gain an inch in diameter which raises you 1/2”.

You will be fine in stock tires with a mild lift. It won’t look goofy. Everyone gets jealous of bigger beefier tires, you just gotta have some patience. The Wranglers on your OR are a good tire that is criminally underrated on TW.

I went to a spring shop and they just cut open my Toyota leaf pack and added a leaf in the middle. They asked me how much lift I want and I told them between ideally between 1.5” and 2”. They hit 2” and it settled to 1.5”.

This service may not be offered near you so you can always go with an adaleaf or leaf pack. I highly recommend it. These trucks are way too soft in the back with stock springs IMHO. Don’t do a block.

Yeah I have no interest in a block lift. Good to know on the tires. I really dont need bigger tires. I probably wont go bigger until i wear out the stock. The driving reason I'm doing the suspension upgrade and lift is to deal with how soft the stock suspension is especially when there is any kind of load in the bed. I'm hoping to find a decent shop in my area. Shocks should be coming in and of January so I have some time to figure it out.

If you're concerned about payload, I'd look into doing a full leaf pack.

I tried to convince myself otherwise, as I have some faith in Toyota, but the stock OR Billsteins are terrible. The truck has brake dive, body roll, and the shocks overheat on washboard and you end up bottoming out all the time.

When I upgraded to 5100s the truck drove better on and off road. In no circumstance would I say the stock shocks are better. Even small sudden impacts are better with the new shocks.

In short......you’re gonna love the upgrade! Way better place to spend your money right now than wheels and tires.
