No it is not raining at the moment :] It was house Chores day and dog care / training so he got raked out , nails trimmed and then out for a ride to a walking path and then a store for socialization etc. Then back home to clean some expensive sticks from yesterday , hell even got lazy and went and got a pizza for dinner . The sun did finally show up about 1300 it was a pretty nice day then . You get into anything good ?

I had the same exact thought, and IIRC you started it last year

Same here, but for the other reason, the cold. Can't say it enough about the grillgrates being worth it. However guess it would depend on your grill and how long you expect it to last, they are expensive.

Have almost half a ton of charcoal in the garage and that of course is my preferred method. But don't want to mess with it in the cold or hot anymore. LOL getting picky the more I put on the mileage. The grillgrates come very close to charcoal in flavor in what they add.

Had a chunk of sirloin left over from Christmas Eve fondue so had to cook that up also. Butterflied it, youngest son likes his meat well done and he can have that later. Sear first then slide to the cool side to continue cooking. Easy to tell where the Ribeye was searing over the heat.

    Dec30 Steak.jpg

Damn willow tree dropping leaves finally, what a mess.

Had some left over pumpernickel bread from the fondue so buttered and toasted a thin slice. Montreal steak seasoning on the steak after the fact. Should have had some greens but cottage cheese and potato salad were too good to let it go to waste and needed used up also.

    Dec30 steak plated.jpg

Should be avoiding the carbs but am supposed to be avoiding iron right now. Next year I will worry about that stuff.

When labs come back and something is a little high and the doc starts complaining, I just ask which one do we want to kill me. The best I can do is 2 out of 3 so tell me which 2 we want to work on...of course it always comes down to carbs and blood pressure.

So that is why your projects always turn out successful. Having worked for the 2 time president of Project Management Institute when I first retired from the Navy, Dr. Adams, his favorite saying was Time, Money and Resources. Pick any 2.

And your one of the few that seems to understand the carb\health relationship being at the top of the list. Food pyramid is upside down, just look at a diabetics diet. Medical community is starting to come around but it is like turning an Aircraft Carrier 360°, going to take awhile.

Start off the new year with being a customer instead of an employee at Mayo, have a lot of tests starting Jan. 2 they are now looking at Renal Glands as to why I have Iron Overload. I just want the joint pain to go away, have had enough. Glad the liver is OK getting it shaken up by a machine while filled with radioactive material laying in a MRI wasn't exactly the highlight of my life. But the results were worth knowing.

And also exactly correct on what one do you want to kill me. Reminds me of this-

Will I Live to see 80?

    Here's something to think about.

I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, He said I was doing fairly well for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?'

He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?' 'Oh no,' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'

Then He asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?' 'I said, 'Not much... My former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!'

'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said.

He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive motor-cycles, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said...

He looked at me and said,.. 'Then, why do you even give a shit?'.

    Well it isn't too late...

My son text me that he made it through Chicago and has done the transfer at Grand Central Station (Chicago Union Station now). 3 hour layover and his only concern besides catching the transfer was getting to Portillo's for a Chicago dog. I have done that with him. Ketchup is only allowed on french fries there, Chicago dogs get mustard. Somewhere in the mix. This was mine.

    chicago dog.jpg

Portillo's was just recently ranked the #1 favorite restaurant in America.

And they have a few locations in SoCal.

It is not too late Andy.

For ketchup. Yeah baby, ketchup on hotdogs...

    ketchup dog.jpg

Both be good. But that Chicago dog from Portillo's, OMG.

Speaking of flashbacks, which is bullshit I want my money back from the 70's, I am reminded of Gramm Rudman. But never had to deal with it on the Civilian side has to really be a kick in the groin.

Stay away from Waltons, although it is the first place I go to.

Can't sleep I hate emotional coaster rides anymore. And drama. I have to work in the morning but will do casualty assessment in a couple of hours and go from there...

Listening to FM radio. Classic Rock of course. I can't drive 55 it took me 16 hours to drive to LA. Now Moody Blues, closing dance music from the 70's. They can not defend in the end, Knights in White Satin.

Know the drive from San Diego to Vegas better than Orange County. Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Never saw the movie but read the book. A couple of times. And yes I do know that heat on the pavement. And a sandbox in hell. And your mouth being so dry you can't talk and lips chaff and bleed. And jumping cactus. Thank gawd for needle nose pliers.

But I could continue to freeze my ass off. There is Az. for a few months of the year.

    Just thinking out loud.

    Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people Look back and lament
    Another day's useless Energy spent
    Impassioned lovers wrestle as one

Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son

Senior citizens wish they were young

Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white

But we decide which is right

    And which is an Illusion?

    Like you house stuff.
Carol and I went out for lunch.
    That went very well :)
    Cleaned some garage trash
And chilled the rest of the day.
