    I'll have to dig mine out sometime. I didn't like how they stepped up voltage and use PWM to run them because it causes the actual cathodes to vibrate and it shortens their life so I used the Nixie driver they provided but built my own 200v constant power supply.

    You know about the board I’m running? It’s the SPECTRUM something I forget the model from PV Electronics outside London.

    Their HV power supply doesn’t look too shabby. Has those good quality capacitors I see on computer motherboards. Didn’t realize it was PWM.

    Light bars are supposed to be covered, Jamesboy is not the only one who drives a submarine, Tyler is able to stall an auto trans, & his gas tank only holds 15 gals. :rofl::anonymous:

    Mine was built by some dude in Ukraine. He reused the old fashioned Nixie driver ICs from the cold war out of junked calculators and such. So I know my drivers are good but I wanted the real voltage constant which the onboard DC-DC con and PWM circuit cannot provide. So all that is bypassed on mine and man are those tubes smooth when the power is constant. Unless you see a rather large transformer and rectifier circuit yours is likely PWM, most kits are cause it is cheap and easy.

    It’s this kit, I soldered everything to the bare PCB they provided. You’re right the HV transformer is PWM.

    I haven’t had an issue with it. It’s been running 24/7 for the past five years and all my tubes are 100%.

    I don’t think they make it anymore, but here’s a similar one. https://www.pvelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=167

    Can’t recommend them enough. The owner helped me personally troubleshoot. Very high quality kits. I was running the largest common nixie tube that was used, which was the IN-18. Things are as common as weeds in Ukraine, yet they charge a stupid amount of money for them.

    I don’t think I’ll do it justice making a grill out of it with my 1998 front end. I’m debating a 2001 front end conversion.

    Or maybe I’ll keep the 1998 front end. I like it.

    I saw someone do up one of those fzj80 grilles in an 01-04 grille and it looked rad. I'm not a huge fan of my oem one but I don't like any of the other aftermarket solutions for it.

    That was my inspiration for it. I loved how in looked on 01-04 trucks.

    Jesus. Is there any hope for Tyler? And we probably all agree that we've given up on James.

    Haven’t posted a picture of this yet. Thing is stupid fun to drive, accelerating is a hell of an experience.

    I mean California is always in some sort of perpetual wildfire, so I’m not surprised.

    Legos are some of the finest molded pieces ever made, the tolerances are so fine that you can use a Lego brick from the 1960’s with one from the 2000’s.

    @Sperrunner
    2UZ built in Japan that went into the 100 series had the strong rods, what were they forged? And the US made 2UZs for the Tundra, etc had the weak rods, cast. Shoot I could be off, been a long time
