Your truck looks AMAZING! ... I see you've got a small Bilstein lift, are you rubbing at all the 285/75s? (This is the exact setup I'm looking at after I add my 3" lift)

 

I wouldn’t call it a small lift, but more of an average lift. 2.5” front and 2.7” rear! Details in my signature if you look at my profile!

Yeah, if you’re going to run 285/75/16 tires be prepared to have a “more than average” CMC done and even then you will likely still rub the cab. You will have to butcher your lower part of your fenders and all of the plastic and the pinch seam that is there as well as hammer it flat or grind it down. I literally couldn’t even drive my truck until I had an experienced fabricator do an aggressive CMC. It took him quite a while and I still get rubbin at full lock in reverse. CHeck out the pics for reference. I haven’t maxed out my castor on my total chaos UCA yet so that will help but even with that adjustment I’m sure I’m going to rub at full lock in reverse and even forward when flexed at full lock.

I don't mind doing the modifications, and yours came out great. I'm just curious, do you think your chop was more necessary because of the offset of the rims? or the size of the tire?
I definitely want to do the wider stance look, and even if I don't get the -25mm 5stars, I was planning to get spacers to push the wheels out 1.5-2" ... What are your thoughts?
(I'm planning to talk to Dustin also to pick his brain on this since I'm torn between the 5stars and the BFD's)

Glad I could help. I appreciate your compliments as well! I can’t say how happy I am with the turnout. I’ve never gone aggressive with car/truck setups and I’m SO GLAD I finally did.
The extra aggressive cmc and other trimming is DEFINITELY related to the wheel offset of -25. Lots of dudes run 285/75/16 and they probably don’t have this much clearance issues. Even Joe at GMG fab who did my cmc and trimming was quite surprised at how many times he had to get the truck on the lift and trim more and even bevel the side of the cab mount for even more clearance. The other offset of 5 star wheels is 0 so if you add spacers to that for better stance you’re literally getting the exact same stance as me and will encounter the same issues. Do you understand how adding a spacer to a 16x8 0 offset five star will be virtually identical to a 16x8 -25 five star wheel? It’s inportant you understand running 1-2” spacers on the 0 offset five star will not give you more ease of clearance. Make sense? In fact it’s a double suck because you just added unnecessary weight and bolts to torque and keep an eye on when you could just buy a 19lb wheel with a more aggressive offset and skip spacers altogether.

 

Yeah, I totally get it, unfortunately the 18" BFD's that I like don't come in the -25 offset so I'd be adding the spacers to those potentially. But thank you again, very helpful information, I thought the 285's would be fine, minus the offset, but your confirmation really really helps! Now the even harder problem to solve: Silver Tacoma with matte Bronze rims?? lol!

 

That’s entirely up to you, I have a love-hate with bronze wheels on silver vehicles. Most of the time I love it but sometimes I hate it, and black would be better in those cases

I'd be interested in seeing a white 3rd gen TRD OR with these. Mainly black or silver wheels. No lift, around stock tire size. Would that work with the 16x8 -25? The FN Wheel site doesn't have any 17" Five Star info.

Seems really hard to find pics of 3rd gens with this or any other FN wheel.
