I'm genuinely curious about this. Assuming that it's been around for 12 years (tcBob joined in 2006, so I'm guessing that's when it all started), do you think it could be around another 12, or maybe more?

    Here's why I'm curious...
Right now, I'm only 18 years old in my first year of college, so I obviously don't have as many truck funds as most other members. With that being said, I do get a little jealous while scrolling through the numerous threads about kings, armor, newer generation Tacomas, etc. I've also been binge watching Maxx Powell's videos.
This brings me to my curiosity of Tacomaworld's life expectancy. If everything goes as planned, I'll have a steady, well-paying job after 6.5 more years of school. One of my main goals in life is to have a few nice cars/trucks to mess around with. So, I really hope that this site will still be as active as it now, so I can really take advantage of its information, and finally be able to show off my sweeeeeet mods that everyone drools over.

Tacomaworld will probably be around when humanity is extinct so not to worry.

At which point our trucks will be fully autonomous and they themselves will run it. They’ll be more powerful than skynet due to their build quality.

Last forum I was on died after 8-10 years. Had a lot of members and whatnot. Found some parts in the garage and logged in to post them for sale but no one else had been on for a year or so.

I hope it never dies. Considering it’s 8:43 am eastern time, on a Monday with 915 members and 2,743 guests online, I’m confident this forum will keep chugging. I’m fairly new after being a long time lurker, and even still, I’m not sure what I’d do without this forum being around.

Im sure the next gen taco will dictate whether new traffic comes in. As folks get used to being on the site they naturally grow. Some become less PC (politically correct) about things and look to leave, others find lasting friendships that tend to keep them here when their builds are mostly done. The latest generation of taco is what fills a decent amount of the void for many similar topics that have been rehashed before.

At the end of the day though, it really comes down to what TC bob wants to do. I get the vibe he is in this for the long haul and has done alot of effort to try and maintain consistency of what TW wants to be...only time will tell though.

After the fall of mankind, a few survivors will exit their cave with with squinting and uncertain eyes.

As they travel amongst the wasteland of debris and forgotten memories, a shimmer of sorts appear in the distance.

That in which they see in a stock tacoma. At that moment the survivors will say “If this starts, we shall mod this”

And so after finding a laptop and plugging it into the bed, they will find Tacomaworld sleeping, waiting, and beconing to the survivors and their modification needs.

It depends on the next generation of Tacomas as well. Tundra solutions kinda took a weird turn, race-dezert and glamisdunes.com also fell apart, another ATV forum i was a mod for died just 6years after its creation. Figure that by the 4th gen taco we'll mostly be in a different vehicle or preoccupied with other life events, mostly 3rd gen and the current gen members will be holding down the fort here. Lots of variables.

Hopefully it sticks around. The people I've had the chance to meet through here are pretty cool and also member to member deals are hard to beat lol

Long after we are all gone, the Morlocks will still log into TW to discuss how the 12,272nd Gen Tacoma was far superior to the 12,273rd Gen. Oh, and they'll probably still poke fun at 3rd Gen owners too.

His older stuff when it was just him working on his truck was good. In his recent videos he’s gone full Bro. I’m too old for that stuff. His last Moab trip was painful to watch. Way too much immaturity with his truck.

Yeah, agree. His early videos were solid content, then presumably he started making some money off of it and now is not unique in any way

You watch Maxx Powell? I feel like I’m creepily tapping into someone else’s home videos when I watch his channel. Don’t get me wrong he’s a cool dude with some cool toys, but I’d rather be making memories myself.

Here’s what you do: put Tacomaworld away for a few years (except for any repair advice you might need), study your butt off, get a decent job, pay off your loans, get married, have kids, and when you have expendable funds then blow your $$$ as you find fit. It’s easy to get sucked into consumerism (I’m guilty as well) and spend lots of $$$ on these trucks. Funny thing is that it can do a lot without any mods.

    Good luck OP

This is good advice. I’ll just add these points. These are based on my own experience and just paying attention to those around me. I’m in my late 30’s with a wife, several kids, and a well-paying job/career.

    1. Don’t look for happiness. Look for purpose and meaning in your life.

    2. If you go to college, then study something that is going to make you money. And I mean money. The govt keeps decent statistics on average income for fields of work. Use that to your advantage.

    3. Unless in dire circumstances, don’t ever go back to living at your parents’ home. It’s like quicksand.
