I’m not sure, I can tell you I paid thousands less for mine w/ 30,000 fewer miles and only two years older than that. It was also almost four years ago. Different gen truck though, I knew what to expect price-wise. I’m not sure on the 2nd gen.

It has been a long while since I rode in a 1st gen. Hows the back seat on a double cab? Fit two car seats?

Reason I am asking is I am still bouncing around selling my truck and getting a DC instead of a runaround sub $5k sedan.

I think besides seat size the other issue is I can't carry over a lot of the things I bought for my current truck and that to me is just lost dollars because they don't typically add value.

Other option is something like this. 06 with 115k on it for $15,000.

Gollee these things hold value. Betcha when I try to trade my reg cab they offer me $6k for it since they're always under kbb/nada trade in values. :annoyed:

Mine’s an xtra cab, not ideal for anyone over 3 feet tall. I haven’t rode in a double cab. @Matic has a double cab 1st gen and could probably weigh in.

I would prefer a 06 or newer, 2005 being a first build of the gen.

Ditto, I know those first several years had some issues. That 05 with 185k on it looked real clean underneath like maybe it had a new frame. The plastic shock sleeve looked brand new but pics can be deceiving.

Some 05s had the head gasket issue as well. Private party like you mentioned is going to be the best bang for your buck selling and buying.

Double cabs actually have some pretty roomy backseats. Never had a couple car seats back there but it certainly looks roomy enough.

The only problem I see is I'm guessing you will want a 4x4 and those will command a premium price. You could probably find a dc 2nd gen, 4x4 for what someone wants for a 1st gen dc, 4x4.

My 2006 was a great truck. Wish I would have never sold it. :annoyed:

Yeah I don’t believe it did. I’m not a fan. But that can be fixed pretty easily as long as the stock ones are underneath.
