What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Hard to see but I added some 3m ppf to the bottom portion of my door, not my best work and I'll probably re do it properly soon, but it will help protect it from the extra dirt my tires kick up with out my flaps on. Also gave it a good wash finally, and cleaned the inside. Also cleaned the moisture out of the "name brand" fog lights

 

New pads, new rotors, an oil change, and tightened up everything on the undercarriage for good measure. Next up, spark plugs.

 

No internal or external beadlocks or hutchinsons.

3rd gen coils on 2nd gen shocks?

 

I will find out today when I head into Arizona wilderness to test it for a long run. My buddy is bringing his SWR so we can do some trouble shooting first before we head out or I fry the head unit.

I have a 3 ft FireStik 2 FS3 mounted up and my matching spring will be delivered today since that antenna is so stiff.

 

I must be thinking of a different truck.

I have the 3rd gen shocks as well. I tried installing it all as well as pressing in new ball joints a few months ago and the rental coil spring compressor wasn’t enough for third gen coils. That’s why I have 3 spread around it this time. Would have been 4 it hadn’t been stripped out when I got it home.

We tried pressing the 3rd gen coils on 2nd shocks and we couldn't get the springs to compress enough. After looking closer we saw that the length of the perch to the threads for the top nut was longer on the 3rd gen shocks then the 2nd gen.

I wonder if you got more or less lift from the 2nd gen shocks shorter length. Hows the ride?

The ride on the 3rd gen shocks and 2nd gen springs seemed to soft for me. I’ve really enjoyed the 3rd gen springs/shocks from the small amount ive driven on them. Less body roll, leveled out the front end, and just more stable on the road.

 

No prob, gimme a couple hours

 

I agree it's a little firmer but pretty good. I also added a 1/2 spacer to get some additional lift.

My 09, 280 000 km finally got around to some work. Arb bumper, fogs, new skirts and covers under the fenders, wheel bearing, trans flush, tire rotate, plugs, new grill insert, bent the tailgate.

Running great.

Next is winch install and lighting behind the grill so it doesn’t go missing as easily.

 

Ok, the first thing is to remove the plug and bracket from bumper, keep the 2 ten mm bolts.
Then u have to mark where the wires go into the plug for a reference later.
Then unpin the wires from the plug, first u have to remove the inner plug by un clipping it and it pulls out, then u can unpin the wires.

 

Once the wires are off, take the plastic housing and cut off all appendages to make it round. There was some small ones I left for orientation but could do without, would be much easyer, I used a dremel.

 

Then use the original bracket to mark ur hole

 

Like I said, if u cut them all off, u could just use a round hole
Feed the wires through the hole and repin by pushing them back in one at a time

 

Use a .190 drill for the 2 holes and the stock 10 mm bolts will self tap right in
