bolt removal help

I was replacing my tailgate cables today and the first one's screw came off just fine. I thew on the cable, screwed it back on and was good to go. Then i tried replacing the other side but that screw isn't budging. Being the dumbass that I am I lost my cool and ended up rounding it out pretty badly. Any suggestions as to how I get a rounded out screw out?

 

I'm not familiar w/ that screw, but...
You're going to have to replace the scew anyways, so I'd go after it with a hammer & cheisel (sp?)
Just cheisel it leftie-loosie! till it becomes easy.

 

Could you get a reverse drill bit and get it out? As the reverse bit tightens (i.e. goes into the screw), it should work to loosen the screw. I had to do that with one of the allen screws on the bed rails that was put on entirely too tight by someone at the factory when I but on my tonneau.

I bought a cheap set of Ease-Outs at Lowe's a few month ago. They work well. I think the brand name was Grab Its.

You take one side and drill into the top of the bolt. Once you drill so far down, flip the bit over and drill into the bolt with it by drilling left. So far it has work well for me.

If it is rusty get some Kroll Oil and let it soak for awhile. If Kroll Oil is not available get some PB Blaster.

either ez outs....or use a pair of vise grips to break the bolt loose and then replace it.
