You must have never lived in a large city where tweakers rule the city. They’ll take everything to try and sell for their next fix.

I got picked up by some hood trash and her mom in college. In my defense I was blasted drunk. When I woke I tried to creep out and walk home but after like 20 minutes in each direction, I had no fucking idea where I was. I went back to the house and was like yo, i got midterms where the fuck am I. I was in lousiville Kentucky, 1.5 hours away from my school in Cincinnati Oh. Guess I didn't lose my car so much as get kidnapped.

Why would they save the tail lights?

many years ago, while ridding dirt bikes with friends we came across a brand new white jeep wrangler, right after a big mud hole that it could not have gone through. It was completely clean no scratches, dents, or mud.No tracks in front off or behind.Doors locked, clean inside. It looked like it was dropped there by a helicopter.

The tail lights are attached to the bed. If you are stealing the bed, you aren't going to unbolt the tail lights and place them on the truck.

My guess is that the owner took the bed off and installed the tail lights (strapping them on) so the truck is legal to drive.

As far as being unlocked, I've known of people who don't lock thier cars and even leave keys in them. Bad idea, sure.

They may have not wanted someone to try breaking in. At some highly localized surf breaks yes we leave our keys in trucks for numerous reasons, like rushing your buddy to the ER

I was camped on a mountain somewhere between Covalis OR and the coast, cooking dinner on the tailgate of my ‘93 when some cat comes backing up a seemingly impossibly steep slope into my campsite. He’s in a new at the time ‘01 or so and stops to chat. Turns out his rig is about to be repo’d and he’s out trashing it, looking for somewhere to get it impossibly stuck (and having a hard time doing so). When he found out I was from back east, he offered to trade trucks...I declined. Never know what you’ll come across out there!
