I was going to wait a while before inquiring about this as I'm having it happen as well but only have 80 miles on the tune, but figured since you're asking I'll provide my info as well

Stock trd OR, except I have 265/70r17 tires. This occurs only after the engine has warmed up and under light throttle. Everything else is perfect though.

Lmao! The first 2 were to the same woman. Hell, if any of you have spent time in jacksonville beach, FL youve probably had a go at her. Most people have apparently!

Figured we might need this with how this thread has been going past couple of days.

Does the ECT button then have the "old" amount of engine braking or does it coast "more" as you describe? In other words, does it work as you describe with ECT button engaged?

Another 100 miles round trip logged. Without ECT on the way there and ECT enabled on the way home. 75-85 mph, 17.5/16.7 mpg respectively.

I especially like the TC configuration. Not one down shift to 4th, but definitely a little slippage to allow a 400-500 rpm jump to hold the current gear and accelerate while going uphill.

80mph at 2500ish rpm is nice 5th gear pull.

not to nitpick but 500rpm jump is a gear change, not a TC unlocking or even half unlocking. Assuming you're referring to the 6th to 5th downshift. 5th to 4th is about a 1k rpm change.

When the TC unlocks, you'll see maybe a 100-200 rpm change at lower rpms.

You’re wrong in so many ways.
I have a gear readout. Truck was in 5th gear and stayed in 5th gear. Audibly (since some people associate noise with a mechanical gear change) it sounds like a downshift, however it is a combo of the TC and potentially Atkinson to Otto change and not necessarily a shift from 5th to 4th.

Ps. “Not to nitpick” is a passive-aggressive introduction to weakly supported position. Kinda like, “ with all due respect...”
I have thick skin. Just tell me I’m wrong and support your position.

Taking a pulse. Just got back from being OOO for a bit. Are there still other A/T dongle-less folks waiting on emails? The ratio of those with feedback vs. those waiting seems to be much bigger now.

There shouldn't be any guessing in this at all really... if you're using a OBD app/dongle or techstream (and not going by feel lol). :notsure:

    Correct.
I learned this very way with an OBD dongle and app.

how about you provide proof. the stock tc is not that loose to jump 500 rpm unless you were either A already pretty high in the rpms like 3k+ or B simply not paying attention to the rpms as you think you are.

i've literally sat there with my obd2 blue driver reader and watched it as well under load 4th gear at 2k rpms and slight incline and can see when the converter unlocks and the rpms jump maybe 200 rpm if that. gear stays the same.

the higher in the rpms you are, the more exaggerated the rpm jump is when the tc unlocks.

but whatever, i'm not here to dick measure against idiots. with all due respect :)
