    That reminds me. My buddy with the ‘94 Jeep ZJ had a faulty factory alarm system. The fix was grounding the sensor wire to the cab, and joining a certain wire to another. It was around 20-22GA, so I used solder and heatshrink.

    Actually I completed lied about what I said with the using only butt connectors. My entire power door retrofit system is made of solder joints.

    I suppose it would matter what gauge of a wire you’re joining. Large gauge wires, butt connectors. Small gauge wires, solder.

    Depends on the application. There isn’t a set formula to it.

    Have you installed the J59's yet? Mine sat kinda high for a bit but after they broke in there closer to 2" of lift. If that. They ride awesome with some weight in the back. And axle wrap.is non existent.

    I use butt conn's on 22 and 20 guage wire all the time. Never had an issue. :notsure: Done hundreds, if not thousands of connections that way. I havent touched my soldering iron in years.

    We'd returned from The Re-Tour a mere three weeks before our departure date, but that didn't mean there were only a few short days to plan for our next epic adventure. In fact, quite the contrary - we'd been planning our trip south to Arizona and Utah for nearly a year - knowing that there was way more ground than we could cover in the two weeks we had allocated for the excursion.

    Our plan was simple, if long. Start in St. George, Utah, and work our way east - first along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then through Glen Canyon National Monument (Lake Powell), and then through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument to Bears Ears National Monument and Natural Bridges National Monuments. Then, finally, we'd work our way back north through Capitol Reef National Park, having seen the plethora of sights and plenty of dirt roads along the way. It was, to be sure, the most ambitious trip (for me) to date!

    No. I was thinking of removing the two bottom leafs, or one in the middle to try to cut the height in half but haven’t decided yet.

    The thing is I want the softest leaf pack unloaded. That’s how I’m riding most of the time. Then get sumo springs or Timbrens for loads. I’d much prefer to have the best ride unloaded and harsher ride loaded. Just makes sense.

    I think the stock pack might actually be the softest. When I did the 8 leaf wheelers pack on my last truck I compared how easy it was to bounce with the shocks off. If I remember correctly the stock pack was by far the softest.

    Which is why I’m considering traction bars and small blocks for a much more predictable and controlled lift. Leaf packs never seem to give the lift advertised.

    Adjusting the headlights is useless if they are all cloudy and faded like mine. They scatter light everywhere no matter what.

    I thought I stalled my automatic a few months ago driving on a steep dirt road covered in snow. Turns out I just started sliding downhill backwards with all four wheels locked up. :eek: Then I put the tire chains on.

    I'm pretty sure the 2001-2004 flares are plastic and not fiberglass. It doesn't look like you have the aftermarket fiberglass fenders (for long travel).

    Yep, 01-04 are plastic. The smaller 98-00 TRD flares are fiberglass.

    I think I remember it being the add on TRD flares that were fiberglass, not the ones that came on TRD packages. I forget though, it's been a long time. Disregard my last post, I'm old & have bad memory now. Lol

    Started getting bored... Decided my camp axe was looking pretty rough. A coat of Por15 shines it up nicely. I'll re-grind the edge when the paint dries.

    If they are plastic, they are aftermarket. All factory flares on 98-00 were fiberglass (but they look plastic until you crush/scratch one).

    @zero4's post was correct on model years.
