All vehicles with auto climate control do this and that has been the case for many, many years as far as I know.

    Edit: winter or summer

Shouldn't you always drive with caution?

Seriously though, it's a weird deal and I can definitely see how it would zap your confidence. I have 33k miles and have never encountered such an issue.

Honestly, just drive it. Toyota took such a hit to their good name and to the bottom line from the acceleration/floor mat debacle, I really doubt they are going to tell you to drive it unless it is safe.

Ah... OK. I've avoided auto climate control. Makes sense though.

Sure...let's make that driving with extreme caution...with hand ready to knock it into neutral if it acts up again.

    We are NOT in control.

A/C, Steering (bigger tires now) IAC, MAF, TPS TS, ambient temperature input are given to the ECM and IT decides how fast the rpm needs to to run.

    Cheers!

Get a dash cam and have it running so you can get it on film. I bet it will never happen with the camera running, or you could get alot of money from toyota :)

You could floor your truck, keep it floored and push the brake and it will come to a stop even while you are flooring the gas. Brakes are strong...

So many if those UA cases were proven mistakes or fraudulent after investigation. Black box analysis showed incorrect pedal application and in many cases of intentional wrong pedal application.

That guy in the Prius going down the highway claiming he could not stop? Analysis showed he intentionally applied the brakes and throttle, one after another to make it seem the car was out of control.

Or that lady in the Avalon at Home Depot whose vehicle supposedly took off across the parking lot. She claimed she was on the brakes the entire time. Security footage showed no brake light illumination. Box analysis showed 100% throttle application the entire time.

Or the nanny who said her Prius accelerated backwards into a wall. Again...analysis show 100% throttle application. No brake application at any point. The list goes on.

Once NASA showed there was no issue with Toyota throttles and that news went public, Toyota said they had an immediate 90% drop in UA reports.

This PR nightmare was a result of some floor mat displacement...both OE and aftermarket and gross pedal misapplication...both accidental and intentional

Just another reason why I'm soooo glad I have a 4 cylinder 4x4 Tacoma...Never have to worry about acceleration..

    Unintended or not ;-)
