    Ok.

You like your truck the way it is, I can respect that.

We're of a different opinion, however.... not sure what you hope to accomplish with your post :notsure:

I too have driven manual vehicles for many years, and this one is by far the "strangest".

Can I ask..in what scenario is this mod felt it is needed?
Daily driving? Racing the truck? Or During a rock crawling/wheeling scenario? Curious as to why the engagement of the clutch must be so defined.

Daily driving for me. When I let the pedal all the way out and didn't get full engagement right away. Put the pedal in and there was a bit of slip until full disengage. It just didn't coincide with where my foot was. So, it just didn't feel right for me. There there were occasions when the timing was off even more. Also, for some reason, 4 to 5 shift, more often than not, was like I was a new driver. Sometimes I would be fighting the synchros to get it into gear, or It would "dump" and the truck would buck a little when I let the pedal back out.

For me it's any scenario to be honest.

It's most apparent under higher load situations, like taking off on a steep incline or downshifting quickly for power and getting back into the throttle.

The release point is inconsistent, as there's a delay introduced because of the accumulator. If it was the same all the time, well I could get used to that. It's not though.

Please don't say something like "learn to drive a stick" or "you just haven't adjusted your style to the Taco". I know what I like, and I know what I don't like. This clutch is one thing I don't like.

BTW, for context - I've also paid for an aftermarket tune that enhances throttle response among a number of other things.

This is absolutely true. If you do everything in slow motion, no problem.

I used to commute more than 90% of the time on bikes. The 12yrs before the Taco.

I stupidly made bad guesses on the conditions before rolling out in the mornings. Great throttle and brake feel were the only things that got me through. Literal sheet ice on a couple occasions.

I used to do an annual Thanksgiving Day ride to "search out" a Black Friday paper. I gave that up. I'm getting a bit soft.

Just every day driving. The truck was ultra attentive and numb prior and now feels just normal and capable. I will say that offroad is immensely better now.

Interesting, thx for the responses. I'll keep an eye on this thread. As of now i have no complaints about the trucks MT but never know as miles and further driving scenarios are introduced.

The mod is reversible if you use the parts that @Trident904 is selling or similar. Plug and play. I would recommend a clamp to support the line near where the accumulator was though.

I can agree, every manual was easy to pick up. Even now to this day I can't seem to get the clutch exactly the way I want it every time. Sometimes I'm like that was a perfect shift, sometimes I feel like I let off to fast or too slow, but It should be the same everytime. So hopefully @Trident904 pre fab kit will make it like my older vehicles.

    Oh, it will!

My confirmation test was, if you can smoothly drop other MTs into 1st gear while rolling but can't on the Taco, this will make it all happen.

Well, I hope so I just paid for my kit. It's getting shipped out wednesday, and when it gets here I will be installing it the same day.
The accumulator will be on ebay the next day hopefully selling for about 30 bucks, to pay for my prefab kit that replaced it. :fingerscrossed:

Might want to tuck it in a corner on the off chance that something fails that requires warranty work. The dealer would love to
find it missing and deny your coverage.

Recycle that PoS. It ain't worth the metal it is made from.

Yes and no? Once you're in it several K, there's going to be no warranty support on the clutch. The slave is rebuildable. And, the TO bearing is the same as the clutch.

I was happy to send mine out to see if a drop in piece could be machined (no dice) and was happy to never see it again.
