What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I think they mention it in the instructions somwhere but you're supposed to use the cutoff end of your old boot as a shim at least on one side

Oh wait, I thought you got the Porsche boots, the ones you got are for 05+ Tacomas'

 

Ya... I did that... The piece of old boot is inside there in the pic... The All Pro boot is bigger than the piece of old boot. And that mounting surface covers way more of the flange than the old boots do.

 

Manual hub axles are smaller. The shaft anyway is 6mm smaller than ADD. Not sure if the rest of that end is smaller or not.

 

The rest of the end is the same thankfully, it's just the manual hub extension portion that is smaller but those boots he has are for 05+ Tacos

 

Well fuck... It was listed in our (95-04) section on their site a few months ago. Didn't even double check.

If you need them in a hurry SDHQ carries them, I can pick them up from their showroom and ship em to you. Apparently they ship things, but they aren't good about rushing anything. Alternatively the OEM yota boot kit is very cheap and comes with all greases, clamps, and clips.

 

Are either set the same quality or is one better than the other?

I don't need em in that much of a hurry... I don't even have 4x yet. That's why I'm re-booting these, to get ready to do the 4x convert.

The Porsche 930 boots are touted as an upgrade, I haven't tried them with my manual hubs though and my stock boots haven't torn a boot in 4 years of pretty hard use. As long as you don't have the hubs locked in when you're daily driving and you aren't lifted a tremendous amount I'd imagine either work well.

 

I don't have a catalog in front of me at the moment, @Kiloyard likely has the number and if I remember right it is $35 for the kit which has both snap rings, two grease packets, two boots, and 4 clamps or in other terms, enough to reboot one CV

 

The 930 boots are inners right? I have inners from Off Road Solutions. Now I double checked them and they do fit.

All I need is outers

 

Yessir I believe they are. Hmm, I'm not sure who just sells high angle outers, I know where you can get standard duty outers though

 

Hoping Toyota parts dept is open tomorrow. I don't want to leave these things all torn apart that long.

From what I gather, the high angle is more important on the inners than the outers.

 

Or wait... Someone double check this for me so I don't fuck it up again.
