Nope. Just appearance. Maybe a little more heavy duty since you have to take 4 screws out in order to disassemble it. The OEM one just snaps apart. Could be a disadvantage too, leaving you stranded with a dead battery and no Allen wrench.
Guess I better keep that Allen in my glove box.

    Just did these mods:
    N2 Designs remote starter
(Super easy & Awesome customer support)
    CoverKing neosupreme seat covers
(Fit is a little loose, well made, they look & feel great, not to mention way cheaper than Wet Okele)
Wet Okele is still better, if you can afford them.
    Headrest handles with bag holders
    Cargo net between front seats
My own Frankenstein Qi phone mount
    (Eventually hardwired in dash)
    OCD glove box organizer

I am glad I went with the long one. Low enough to get plenty of hose on it and high enough to be protected by the pro skid plate. Probably will work fine without a hose.

Thanks. Not too bad to remove. You have to pull off the dash(es). On the back side you will see the ring posts. They are stuck through the front then held with a drop of glue. I used needle nose to pop the glue then push the posts through. Ring falls out.
Im looking into grabbing some black handles from a hilux or SR. $25 a piece on ebay.
The side mirror knob can swap with a Sienna supposedly. I will have some spare vinyl after I wrap my scoop and may just make a cover form that knob as well as the 4x4 knob.

I'd love to hear about how the install went. Does doing it yourself affect the warranty at all? I'm thinking of doing the same lift and very similar tires to mine.

Updated my 1.04-91 Octane OV tune to 1.05-93 Octane tune. What a difference! I originally bought it awhile back for more power and to cure the schizophrenic dance (6>4>5>4>6) trying to go over hills with the cruise control on. I live in Florida and the only hills we have here are called over passes and bridges. The 1.04 tune still downshifted to 4th going over bridges in cruise but with 1.05 it smoothly goes into 5th and powers over the bridge, ie hill. It also stays in 6th going on over passes. I did not want to test it out tonight because of New Years Eve but like a kid in a candy store I could not wait. My radar detector was constantly going off and I saw a couple cars pulled over so I was careful to only go the speed limit... as I always do. I seemed to have developed an unusual condition. I usually gain 3-4 pounds around Christmas but this time all of the extra weight seems to have pooled around my right foot. Even though I did not exceed the speed limit I got up to that limit much quicker than normal. I have 2 kids who are doctors so I will have to give them a call to see if they can diagnose my unusual condition. The truly amazing thing is that I still got 24.9 MPG after this test drive with my heavy foot so I tend to believe OV that this new tune improves gas mileage by 2 MPG. It was worth every cent. I have not posted in the OV alpha thread yet because they have gone absolutely crazy.

Overall, it wasn't too terrible. Hardest part was getting the long bolt out of the upper control arms since you have to bend the fender well out of the way. As far as warranty, I don't know because I never asked. Besides that, I don't know if I really trust any one in the area to do it the way it needs to be done. I guess I figured I would take the bet on the Tacoma's reliability if I had any concerns about warranty work. BTW tire size is 265/75/r16

Dang. Construction crew must have lost a load or something. Not one, but two. That really sucks.
