LED help.

So I saw on another forum someone worked up their version of raptor lights on a 2nd gen Tacoma and I loved it. So I pretty much did the exact same thing, take the grill apart and drill holes for the LED bolts and wire them into the driver side parking light ( not the drl light).....but the problem is the LED that’s on the far driver side keeps flickering. I figured it was a bad LED so I bought another 2 ( which was good thinking IMO ) and replaced it and now this one is flickering and not working too. I really don’t want to take the grill apart again and put another LED in it. Is there something I’m missing ??

 

Just a guess but maybe there’s not enough amps to power all of them. I’d wire 2 into the pax side if possible.

 

That’s what I thought .... but according to their website (oznium ) each light is only drawing at max 50ma or 0.6 watts. I could be wrong but that wouldn’t be enough to just make one of the leds flicker even after replacing it once ..... would it ? Lol.

 

Try the good old fashioned "wiggle test." That's where you wiggle the wires and connections with the lights on to see if you can cause the flicker. My bet is a bad connection or ground somewhere. Always go for the simplest stuff first.

 

Well unfortunately wiggling the wires didn’t really change or cause anything to happen, same flicker no matter what. The ground is perfectly fine too. And it’s not a very quick flicker , it’s like a random on-off pulsing .

 

I hate to say it, but I'm leaning towards another bad LED. The quality of most aftermarket automotive LEDs is simply awful.

 

You’re probably right. Sounds like a TRD Pro grill and the amber lights specifically built for them will be coming in the future. Thanks !

 

How about wire the suspect LED directly to the battery and see what happens?

Are those the morimoto MINI modpods? Or regular size?

 

LEDs dont flicker unless there is a bad connection on the positive or negative side. If there wasn't enough maps non of them would come on, a d if there were to many amps it would blow all of them. My guess without having any info wouldn't be a bad LED because you've changed it and it does the same. Do you have a multimeter?
